So, I use sigpatcher2HBL and sigpatcher2sysmenu for installing/playing CFW titles. Well my son broke his Wii U and is currently using mine. He's only 8 but I have nothing but trust in him and he fully understands that although I am "hacking the Wii U" it carries fatal consequence to the console. For example I have all of the CFW titles in a folder colored red titles "DANGER ASK DAD FIRST" and he is actually afraid of the folder lol

Anyhow I was just curious. Say one day it slips his mind, or even mine for that sake. What exactly would happen if we booted up the Wii U and went straight to a CFW title and opened it (again, without running sigpatcher first)

Will this brick the console or is that just a consequence from fudging up their installation?

It'd say:
"This software cannot be used.
"The Nintendo Network ID used to purchase the software has been deleted."
[Next]
"You need to purchase this software from Nintendo eShop again to be able to use it.
Go to Nintendo eShop?"
[Cancel] Go
"This software can be deleted by going to Data Management under System Settings.
Go to the Data Management screen?"
[Cancel] Go

Source: I tried to boot an EUR game on a USA console without sigpatching.

No, it won't brick. However, the console will freeze on an error screen and require you to turn it off and on again, but that's the only consequence.

That only happen if you try to run something like an injected VC game, the console won't freeze if you try to run something like Super Mario 64, it will just throw an error telling you the user which from the content was purchased of doesn't exist but it won't freeze.

Thanks for the replies people! I was also curious about one other thing. That is:

Do I need to run sigpatcher2sysmenu everytime I want to play a CFW title or is it active until I reboot my console?

(Example: I'm playing a CFW title and grow bored of it and want to play another. I exit the CFW title and return to the Wii U Homescreen. Do I run sigpatch again or just choose another CFW title?)

Use Mocha CFW, it's better. And you only need to run sigpatches once, only if you reboot you have to do it again.
Or skip Mocha all together like 99% of experienced homebrew users recommend on a daily... Nay hourly basis. Use HaxChi. Stay away from Mocha and/or rednand.

I agree with @Kafluke Read up on Haxchi, get that working and then you can consider upgrading to CBHC.

With CBHC your wii u will be cfw enabled from boot, you wont have to click anything, just run your games and they will work. Even the ones in the "DANGER" folder :)

Just make sure you reda up on it first and make sure you follow all the instructions.
Dont use an out of date guide either...... Just go to the official CBHC thread here on GBATemp :)

Thanks for all the help peoples. Another question. Using sigpatcher2HBL while installing DLC do I choose USB or NAND?

Same location as where the game/save is located.
For some reason the DLC I grabbed from USB HELPER didn't install correctly even though WUPINSTALLERGX2 said it was. I mean after installing and running sigpatcher2sysmenu then opening the game the DLC would be present correct? No other steps needed?

There's one giant flaw with Haxchi though: You have to give money to Nintendo.
I'd rather just host the exploit on my phone/PC and skip paying an unneeded fare.

A few bucks for an unlocked console isn't bad. Cbhc is stable, and with 1.6 you have an auto boot menu, where you can select vwii, vwii homebrew channel, mocha, or the built in haxchi Cfw from boot.

Because giving Nintendo 6 dollars is actually a sin. If you want permament CFW solution and ability to play non-legit games instantly for just $6.
Hell, looking at other consoles, it costs alot just to homebrew them.
[PS3 downgrading costs alot, here it just costs $6 and you already hacked your console]

My ps3 is a launch model, and I jailbroke it on 3.55 for free.. And my 360 was pre-nxe. 6 dollars isn't a bad deal.

god forbid if you pay nintendo for anything...
lol 6 bucks for automaticaly have sig patches on boot without having to constantly run a damn network exploit that requires another device every time you boot your wiiu for life.

with those 6 bucks you can isntall evrything and have acess to everything as soon as you wiiu boots without having to set up another device or internet connection.

I'm not giving 6 bucks or one cent to a company which devastates localizations, censors and treats their own fans like crap, sorry. I paid for early Vita exploits, but fuck giving Nintendo any money whatsoever.
