Hey all, I've tried to run OOThax using a save I have through Powersaves though when I try to trigger the exploit the game freezes up.

I got the installer on the SD card and everything.

I think is because Powersaves can't inport the payload.
You must install it with a friend's HBL

If you do that, the save has to have the payload corresponding to your 3DS version and firmware.

If the save you backed up with powersaves contained the payload, it backs up the payload along with the *hax save file, and re-imports the both of them when you reimport the save file.

Do you have the correct boot.3dsx for the version of the hax you are trying to run?

Is the save file made for your specific system (o3ds or new 3ds)?

Is the save file made for your firmware version?

All powersave does is backup and restore an entire save file image. It doesn't know what's in there or even how to read it.

And if you do somehow switch the payload.bin in the savefile you mess up several in-game checksums and the save is formated because it believes it is corrupted (I've done it).

Yes.

That's why you backup a save file that has the correct payload for your 3DS and import it.

Well it didn't format or tell me the file was corrupted. And I did get the right 3dsx file, I got a suspicion the save file I used for the hax might not be for my firmware (my firmware is 10.1.0.27U and I use a o3ds.

just gunna throw this out there, the only way you can load the payload through the save for it to run properly, is if you have a prepatched/exploited save file for the version of 3ds you have to get it to work at all, my post here tells a bit about it https://gbatemp.net/threads/oot3dhax-powersave-edition.401799

the save file i have uploaded in my post is specifically for N3DS 10.2.0.28U just an fyi

Here try this.

I don't have a 10.1 o3ds to test this with -- just a 10.2.
But ... this is actually the payload for 10.1 and it worked on my 10.2 and it should work for your 10.1.
Just try it.

It works! I just launched the Homebrew channel! Thanks guys!

Edit: Trying to install Home Menu hax though I keep getting an error, here's the error code 0xd8a0a046 and it says it failed to download the actual payload.

That exploit was blocked with 10.2, sorry. At least you got something.
Wait, you were on 10.1.
This may seem obvious, but make sure your internet is on and make sure there is no dns/proxy stuff.

Last edited by zoogie,
my net is on, let me check the DNS

edit: yeah I had the tubehax DNS thing on. Gonna see if removing it helps install Menu Hax

edit 2: yup it worked after I removed the DNS.
