Nope, a hard drive is formatted to the individual Wii U only. You got another Wii U you'll have to format it again on that new Wii U so you'll lose everything on it no way around it.

Quit messing with cbhc.... For op too late but wtf.... The last periode too many wiiu consoles became paper weights.
Wtf Cbhc is not the problem, it is 1000% SAFE.
People who can't follow tutorials just shouldn't get near it. And I don't feel sorry for those who blame Cbhc when they fk it up.

Just do it step by step and it will work.

That's an oxymoron if I ever heard one....

That thing that can brick your unit if you don't follow the instructions to the letter is 1000% safe.

If it has even a 1% chance of brick it's by definition, not safe.

I mean to put a real life example that would contradict this, sharp objects rounded for saftey such as saftey scissors are not 100% safe. You can always have user error and still call it safe.

about your saves, if they are on the external hard drive, and if you have dumped some key from your wiiu (seeprom if i remember correctly?) then you should be able to dumb the saves from the hard drive with a tool that is somewhere on this forum (wbs dump or something like that, its been a long time i dont remember, maybe someone will be able to correct me)

The 1% is mostly people who do not follow the RULES OF CBHC... I've been using it since day one....

The issue is that there are too many failure points and people absolutely mess with things if they can't get it to work right away (e.g. kids). Sooner or later they will hit a button they aren't supposed to.

The bigger issue is that it is always 100% vulnerable to unsolicited automatic updates while connected to WiFi (required for online play). Even not doing anything can be enough to break CBHC. Remember that CBHC for EUR users was disabled by the GDPR update? That update, seemingly out of nowhere, could have bricked all CHBC consoles and further updates still can at any point.

now that I consider it can I save my saves and mario maker levels on my usb drive
(official discs that I bought. and moved the saves via the wii u settings before haking anything)

How? The only way to backup your saves is with SaveMii onto your sd card did you do that? Again your usb drive is useless and will have to be formatted on the next Wii U. Also, a Wii U formatted drive can't be read by a computer. No matter where you try to use that hard drive next it will force you to format. Go ahead try it. Even if you never hacked your Wii U at all it doesn't matter the hard drive can only be read by the Wii U that it was originally formatted by.

I see you were asking now and not making a statement, but the answer is no. You're going to have to start over if you didn't use SaveMii.

very odd, eerie even. since you have the quick menu nabled i would suggest you try all options on it. like the second user profile, wii mode, settings
Agreed. Somewhat eerie.
@bananaboy319 Have you already tried to boot the Wii U without the Quick Start screen?

Looks like the USB-device can be mounted on a computer given the opt/seeprom are available.

But I haven't tried it (yet) and do not know if this can be used to extract the saves in a way that SaveMii can be used to restore them on another (hacked) Wii U.

if im not mistaken i think that the wiiU saves arent signed in themselves, so to restore if extracted this way you "just" have to replace them with ftp access

Okay. If you say so. I'm pretty much a noob in terms of Wii U and Wii U hacking. I read way too much about fully bricked Wii U consoles, bricked vWii and got scared, so I never really dug deep (regular Haxchi, some homebrew applications, installed my discs and that's all)

If I remember correctly ftpiiu everywhere can also be dangerous because it allows writing to (or deleting) arbitrary files on the NAND. A full access ftp server does not provide the same level of protection and warnings as – for example – GodMode9 on the 3DS.

But using ftp for writing saves on a USB drive should be safe for the console.

I used the cbhc menu before to go directly to hbl but now I don t even see the Autobooting....
in white.
and when I originally hacked it the haxchi folder wasn t in the root of my sd card so i m not even sure it was hacked but I had hbl and correctly hacked the vwii and all I messed with on the haxchi folder was add this
b=wiiu/apps/loadiine/loadiine.elf

When it is not in root, how can you hack the console then?
