Misc Online on Wii

I just wanted to ask if the wii has online play to play with other people, like XBox Live or something...

Lots of games have wifi. But of course none of them you can talk on like you can on Xbox Live. The Conduit is probably the only shooting game that you can talk to people on like on Halo etc. But you need friendcodes to talk to people on The Conduit.

Animal Crossing City Folk also uses Wiispeak so you can talk to other people in your town. But, you probably knew that.

Dont expect the same quality of service as xbox live (or even PSN) as Nintendo is still very rooted about the idea of splitscreen multiplayer but things are slowly improving. As stated, The Conduit uses voice chat and seems to work well in terms of lag and glitches while online.

Wii online is free, just like the playstations (PSN). The only one you have to pay for is xbox live.

I can't recommend The Conduit highly enough, the best online experience on the Wii so far imo.

Guitar Hero World Tour has that label, but wifi is free. It's just the downloadable songs that you have to pay for. So technically it is free if you just don't buy anything. Which can get others confused.

As far as I know Monster Hunter 3tri will be the first game, which you`ll need to pay for going online (not just buying stuff!).

that figures........now that I've got a wii finally and I've never once played an online game but have wanted to for years. well get ready for all of them to start charging because of me lol. specially since i just bought a $150 wireless ev-do wi fi modem for my verizon broadband....

The majority of games do not need any form of payment. You only have to pay if you are buying DLC or playing Monster Hunter 3 as that uses dedicated servers exclusive to the game.
