IIRC Battle Network was turn-based, was it not? Being both real-time and a roguelike, I can guarantee this is going to be considerably harder. Not to turn anybody off the game, of course, but it's something to keep in mind.
Battle Network had a meter that filled up and you could hit L/R to take a new batch of chips from your folder.
As someone who had beta access, yes, this is way harder than battle network. It's also extremely fun, but not without flaws - namely, it's a roguelike which means no overworld. Though that might not be much of a flaw, since most of the fun in BN wasn't running around randomly or the story.
Once again I fell down the martial arts rabbit hole and am plumbing the murky depths of the internet's various martial arts and fighting crafts echo chambers.
If you're not actively involved and only get up to speed every few years or so, you can see the tide of public opinion flapping worse than my dong while I'm skipping naked down a hallway.
