Nintendo just announced that there's a update coming to fix an issue that some people have been experiencing that prevents the game from finishing the Ending Movie. It's scheduled to be released Early December.

Now that the new firmware 9.3 is out, is there anyway to install this without updating the system firmware? I am on 9.2.0.20u and am waiting for my gateway card to come and for the new 9.2 support to be released.

I'm wondering if its necessary to install this update in order to receive the mystery gift? This is because my 3DS is 9.2 while I don't want to go beyond that just yet.
