from what i can see it's waaay back in the day i think 3.4 OE-A, i just got a ps3 and was wanting to hack this bad boy again and get it updated so i can use it with my ps3. it's an old 1001 model. battery even still works, amazed.

Anywho, problem is i try to do the official update to 6.6 and it says game could not be played (DADADADA) or something like that. If i recall, the old way to hack them made the firmware on the system so it wouldn't get auto updated, how do i restore it back to OEM firmwhere so i can put on 6.6 and then do the new custom firmware..

also can a "hacked" PSP still be used to a PS3 to put the games i've bought/downloaded onto it as well?

There were some issues with the beta of pro-C where it could brick your psp if you use the cplflasher, so make sure you got the right files. ;)
