Produced and developed by Entertainment One and in collaboration with Capcom, a new live-action TV series of the world famous fighting game is in the works. The project is being helmed by the team behind the web series Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist:

Drawing on the game’s World Warrior story-arc, the show will center around the different journeys of Ryu, Ken, Guile and Chun-Li as their paths cross to take down M. Bison, the evil mastermind who runs the global criminal organization Shadaloo.

“After a long search, guided by the team behind Assassin’s Fist, we are delighted to be partnering with a company with the outstanding TV experience of Mark Gordon and eOne. They have the credentials to help us launch a faithful adaptation of Street Fighter as a major TV series,” said Yoshinori Ono, Capcom Executive Producer for Street Fighter.

“Street Fighter is a global tour de force franchise, having garnered immense worldwide commercial success and built a vast devoted fanbase that has only grown through its 30 year legacy. We are thrilled to be teaming up with Joey, Jacqueline and Mark, who are already so deeply connected to this brand, to bring this adored story to television audiences everywhere,” said Mark Gordon, eOne’s President and Chief Content Officer, Film, Television and Digital. “A particular strength of Street Fighter is the wide range of ethnically diverse characters and powerful women featured in the game. It will allow us to build an inclusive and engaging TV universe.”

Having personally seen and enjoyed Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist which turned out to be quite a faithful and well executed representation of the video game series, the title could potentially receive the TV series adaptation it deserves. What do you think? Will this project turn out to be successful? Will you watch it once it releases?

Kinda wish they threw in some elements from Alpha and III in there, though.

Not too hopeful in this series, but, then again, I haven't seen Assassin's Fist, so I honestly don't know what to expect from this. It could be interesting.

Erm... Why does the trailer mentions 2014?

That trailer was for Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist which has already been released back in, you guessed it 2014. This trailer was not meant to be for the just announced SF Live Action TV series that is in the works.

If you haven't seen Assassin's Fist, it's pretty true to the SF series and the best yet.
