i recently used www.wiikey.com.cn's config disc when the real www.wiikey.cn site is down............i wonder if that will mess up my chip and not let me use the new upgrade? i have the real wiikey.

It shouldn't cause trouble as it only edits the data in the EEPROM.

As for the firmware update, presumably it will add improved import support, GC Audiofix, DVD9 support, and possibly not work for all clones. If we are lucky maybe it will improve disc detection as well (for those cheapskates who use garbage media). I can't imagine what else it could possibly do.
Oh... I'm sure some other people could maybe think... Maybe bundled in the firmware update is a open-source SDK?

One can dream.

*sigh*

one more day until the firmware (finally) arrives!!
I really hope wiikey clones will work with the new firmware
since i ordered 32 of them last week, planning to start my own
modding service here

Seeing as you just started with the chip installs. And seeing as your soldering is not the neatest it could be.. Maybe you should hold off on the idea of starting an install business..?
At least source some half decent wire for installing with.
Hi,
my dad bought me a solder station with a super fine tip.
You can see my first attempt on the picture.
For wires i used a computers IDE ribbon.

Do you think it will work?
I don't think you should try to make the jump from "Do you think it will work?" posts to "planning to start my own modding service" within a couple of days. Professional quality install work takes practice.

Good luck with your WiiKey clones though.

please DONT . iv also seen the pics. i hope you have 32 spare wiis aswell lol. soldering to the chip is 10x easier than the wiis board . or did you mean bricking service lol..........i cant imagine why the update wont work on clones. after all isnt a clone an exact copy of something.if you were to copy the chip wouldnt you also copy the firmware. the delay in the firmware update was probably a tactic from wiikey to sell more chips before everyone relises the clones are no diffrent and will updated like the originals. once the update is out no one will be fussy if they buy a clone or a genuine wiikey.....

well it's not one day before the update, but soon - remember they said about/around 15th may - just in case people become disappointed with no update tomorrow
