Odin 2 Mini

Howdy folks! The Odin 2 Mini should be shipping in the next few days and having one ordered, I figured I'd do a writeup sometime towards the end of July (maybe sooner, but I'm away from home for most of the month). As a site we've not really had any thorough coverage of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 handheld, so I was planning to go through as many of my dumped Switch library as I feasibly can, as well as GameCube and Wii games I have lying around.

What I'm wanting to know is if there's anything specific you folks would like the coverage (might be a review, might be an editorial depending on how much I feel I have to write about) to include? It should be a pretty strong device in a pretty small footprint, so I'm relatively stoked.

Yes. Snapdragon 8 gen 2 supports Windows ARM, can you see if and how well it can run Windows (and Windows games)?

The Odin Pro could do it.

Oh that sounds marvellous. I already had Winlator on my rader because I wanted to try to get Cemu running on the thing, but full ARM Windows should be fun to try.

As somebody who loves smaller handhelds and the Vita this one is the one I've really been waiting for. With how much power it has it should just be the handheld to rule all handhelds for me.

For some I can see it, but ultimately I think they serve different niches. The Deck is a system that will almost always be the most budget friendly. It does a fantastic amount for what it costs, but it’s a large system and not the most portable in my eyes. Wanting something smaller, things like this and even the larger Odin 2 have a place to exist. The large Odin 2 also has a colossal battery that runs circles around the Deck for emulation.

Really it’s just about what you want. There’s space for more than just one handheld on the market.
