So I’ve got a switch that has this odd flickering and glitching on the screen. The switch doesn’t dock so I can’t figure out if it does this in docked mode. I’ve replaced the ribbon cable FPC connector two times and both times seemed to actually lower the intensity and frequency of the glitches. Now the switch works fine for a bit or it flickers as shown in the video. Has anyone experienced this before and figured out what to do? Thanks I’m advance. 53BA896F-92D1-40F2-BA75-AF30150EBBA5.gif

If you shine a bright flashlight onto the screen, you can check whether it's the screen itself or backlight.
You should see the nintendo logo vaguely if the the screen itself is ok.
Opening it up and checking the power of the backlight might be more accurate of course :

Maybe there is something wrong with that circuit powering the backlight.
The leds in the backlight likely pulsate with a high frequency.

For anyone who stumbles upon this post and experiences flickering on the screen in handheld, this issue was caused by the LCD FPC connector. One of the pins was bent so proper connections weren't being made.

are you using haxchi, tiramisu or aroma?
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
