Oculus has just released their newest Oculus Quest 1/2 feature, Application SpaceWarp, which allows up to 70% higher performance in any Quest application.

The standard values for VR are 72, 90, and 120hz. This new technology works by running an application at half framerate, and the software fills in the rest by creating in-between synthetic frames. This allows the headset to run applications at a half framerate ie. 36, 45, or 60hz.

This of course means that it enables up to 70% more performance headroom, when combined with the software. Past SpaceWarp artifacts have looked... not so great, but Oculus promises that it this new software works much better than what we previously had on PC. Application SpaceWarp can be enabled or disabled by app developers. It uses the depth buffer and motion vectors provided by the game engine, to extrapolate a plausible next frame for every real frame.
