The new R700 chip (by ATI) has 800 shader processors. More than Nvidia's coming 240 units in the GT200 series. The advantage ATI has is that the GPU die size is around the same size as the R600 series, which means it won't be so hot and power hungry like Nvidia's new cards. Sad thing is that Nvidia's still sticking the finger up at DX10.1 (which has seen advantages in AA and AF in a mistaken leak in Assassin's Creed).

Didn't Assassins Creed scrap DX10 in the recent patch to the PC version?

the inquirer is probably the most unreliable news site
its just a big rumor mill with almost all of their news being false
most of the time, they dont even list sources which leads people to see they just make up specs and benchmarks and such

The Inquirer is correct this time..i think.

Assassin's Creed PC Patched, DirectX 10.1 Support Silently Killed Off

It had 10.1 at launch, but it will soon not have 10.1

Actually theinquirer is a very factual site (albeit very biased against Nvidia and Intel sometimes) and DOES post links to benchmarks. A quick google will show you (I got the results of the DX10.1 scores from a link posted on theinquirer).

If you look under the post where it says "L'Inq", there's the link. Usually you'll miss it.

I was right, I heard that they were killing of the 10.1 support with the new patch. Wow IGN was right. Whats this world coming to.
