To answer the questions here! lol...

1. no i don't need the rapid points.
2. I prefer this service sorry others don't I will gladly load it onto mediafire later tonight.
3. It's in 4 parts on the fact that it has to be. The nusd app is wrapped in wine. Which has its binaries and other things it needs to run in it. Also its packed in a dmg drag drop install file.
so it was better to split the file for downloading/uploading.

I'll update my first post with the mediafire links when they are finished being upped!

Can you explain, briefly, why you prefer RS? I see no redeeming qualities, but am open to hearing your reasons.

Thank you for moving the files to Mediafire, when you do.

And someone remind me why you didn't just tell the Mac people to run it in Mono?

I got this to build and run in mono from the SVN:
http://code.google.com/p/nusdownloader/

Screenshot:

However, it compiles as a .exe, haven't yet determined how Mono wants you to release the compiled binary to other Mac users.

Also, need to resize the window a bit, but am not familiar with C# as I only develop with *nix.

Do people need the Mono .NET Framework?

And then what?

I'll dig a bit more, but I hadn't heard of Mono until just now.

Well, the point is that you could install Mono (without MonoDevelop) and just run the commandline "mono NUSDwhatever.exe" even if it was compiled on Windows (so the NUSD binary release works). If you really wanted to you can static-link mono with the exe for Mac as a standalone binary.

Someone should fix the window size thing though, bug the author to use .NET docking and layout panels properly.

Ah, neat, that worked great.

So Mac users just need to install the Mono 2.4.3 Framework:
http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html

Download the "NUS Downloader.exe" file:
http://www.mediafire.com/?gnnzdmuymly

And then run the "NUS Downloader.exe" from the command line by opening Terminal.app, typing "mono " and then dragging and dropping the "NUS Downloader.exe" into the terminal and pressing return.

Just some instructions for Mac users who are mostly unfamiliar with the Command Line Interface ^

Any thoughts on how to fix the window size on my end?

Also, finished downloading the rar files from the first post and put them on MediaFire here:
MediaFire MAC NUSD Folder

But screw that, it's 711 MB once you unpack everything.

I went ahead and compiled an app for Mac which is only 92kb:

It does compile correctly and run. The issue is the download function has not been ported properly by Mono. They are working on it at the moment, and once fixed it will allow the native compiling of NUS Downloader for Mac. Until then, your work is appreciated once you get your "nasty bug" fixed.

holy hell. 700MB?!? i point people to "NUD wadpacker". it runs is mono(mac and ubuntu) and it is python based. granted, you must jump through some hoops to set up mono & python, but i say its worth the trouble.

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=174...l=NUS+wadpacker

I hadn't seen that before. The Mac download is dead. I snagged the source and it's running for me (although had to edit a bit to have the window properly sized). I'm not sure at the moment how to pack this into a distributable app.

Thanks for the heads-up, Giantpune. I wish I had the time to code something native.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
