Hacking NTRboot R4i gold 3ds

I know this sounds obvious answer, but just so I can test it, is it ok to flash this cart with ntrboot, and boot into it with the magnet, using an already CFW'ed 3DS, just to see if the cart is flashed with NTRboot properly?

Also, do I need to bother somehow backing up the current FW on the cart, or am I ok to restore it using the R4i_Gold_3DS_(HW_A7)-Flashrom.zip that is provided?

I don't see why it wouldn't be alright to test it on a cfw 3ds i havent done it myself but can't really see it causing any problems.

As for restoring it you should be fine using the provided one i did it the first time and had no problems

Unless you flash the version that reads ntrboot.firm instead of boot.firm you'll never know if it is working, because the console would boot the boot.firm if the cartridge wasn't working, anyway.

So you can only know if it's working on a stock unmodded 3DS then?

I know this probably isnt the right place but im desperate. I installed cfw using ntr boot. Everything works perfect! But when i went to reflash my r4 cart i get a white blank screen. I tried all three fw's available on 3ds guide. Any ideas?
