How were you translating it? We you transcribing screenshots or something? If so stop that for now as it is not going to help much when it comes to the hacking bit.
Anyway translation of games via patches applied to the ROM you ultimately play with emulators and flash carts typically falls under the banner of ROM hacking, and might well be one of the biggest aspects of it depending upon what you want to look at.
I wrote a tutorial aimed at the GBA and DS here
https://gbatemp.net/threads/gbatemp-rom-hacking-documentation-project-new-2016-edition-out.73394/ but other than the really in depth technical stuff it applies to basically every device out there. You will want to flank it with some documentation of the SNES hardware,
https://wiki.superfamicom.org/ being a good start here. Various emulators will also have a bit. I am not sure what debugger emulator the kids are using for the SNES right now but
https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/241/ usually did me well whenever I wanted to look at such things.
Romhacking.net (sometimes referred to as rhdn) above is also one of the primary ROM hacking sites out there, with lots of good info,
https://www.romhacking.net/start/ being a choice thing to start with, and the forums there also having people versed in such things (I would not be surprised in the slightest to find someone here that can recreate all the key points of the wiki above from memory, but they might not be around here all the time, rhdn on the other hand pretty much has the 8-16 bit era consoles and some N64 stuff as a main focus).
