I went through his entire tutorial and thats why im here talking to you guys all day

longtom1
you said "it's just the version numbers of some of the IOS's are old versions and newer are available
"

how can that be when i went through xzxero's tutorial and that signcheck was the result from it (post #3332), i mean i'll go through it again, but so far its been a pretty useless day, im not getting anywhere, i was hoping i can get this up and running for my kid for christmas, but not likely, just cannot waste so much time on this...

as i mentioned in multiple posts i went through xzxero's tutorial (didn't do the cIOScorp 3.5 part) (post #3311 describes everything that i've done)
has homebrew channel
none of the games of the hard drive play (not even close)
original discks ask for update

I'll try to go through the tutorial again, but it seems that im just runing in circles...

what do you mean not even close???

do you have the hard drive plugged in the correct port(the one closest to the edge of the console) and what loaders are you using???

and what errors do you get if any when trying to run a game

WBFS Manager
USB Loader (homebrew latest version 860 from http://code.google.com/p/usbloader-gui/downloads/list)
NeoGamma R4 (despite going through the upgrade and the rest of the tutorial, channel is still there) (also tried R8 through homebrew)
Western Digital 1TB

in usb loader i can see all the games with the covers, once i select and click play on any games, screen either goes block and freezes or gets to wrist strap screen and then freezes

neogamma i can see all the games but once selected screen just goes to green screen and freezes

and ofcourse there is the system update issue that prevents us from playing the originals (i have priiloader already)

well, thats my meaning not even close (we haven't been able to play this games for months now, and after going through xzxero's tutorial i CANNOT even play the original disks, getting really F...ing pissed off

Any constructive suggestions will be much appreciated

P.S. when i load usb loader through homebrew it says reloading into 236 (IOS 236) or something to that effect really quickly on the black screen, it never used to do that when it worked before for 2-3 weeks back in the summer

press reset and then hold it and it should go into priiloader and go down to where it says system menu hacks and enable the block disk updates and make sure you go to the bottom and save settings and start the system menu and that should block your originals asking you to update

I have no clue what's going on with the usb loading have you tried reinstalling 222 and 223 which are used or usb loading

when i go to priiloader and select "System Menu Hacks" it gives me error

"Couldn't find any hacks for System Menue version: v481"

The hacks.ini also must be for the same system menu version/region you have.

Also if you update to 4.2 with all of the IOS wad's in xzxeros update package there shouldn't be any update messages in the first place.

k, how do i check if its there? and can i uninstall it as per suggestion in "Modify any Wii 4.2 & below, aka the simplistic mod" tutorial
sorry if i was not able to answer your question earlier. it was early morning here had duties to do. reading through your discussion with longtom it seems that you are now having problem loading games off the usb. might as well try to reinstall cios249, 222, and 223.

yes, got the priiloader working properly, now the System Menu Hacks is working. all of the options in it are disabled. Should i enable Block Disc Updates or any others?

I enbaled the Block Disk Updates and Block Online Updates. So now we can at least play the originals.

Im happy that something is happening, now lets see whats up with the usb loader

P.S. damn, just when i got excited, just before the actual game began i got the "the game disc could not be read...", well other discs play, so this could just be this one, plus its all scratched up

It also goes directly to priiloader everytime wii starts up, i thought it should do that when you press reset button

thanks for trying to help,

To stop it from coming up you need to set it to autoboot the system menu or whatever you want it to in the settings. once you get the usb loader working properly you can even have it autoboot the usb loader you use.

As for the rest of your problem could you link to your post with your info about it here or just repost it again here or something?

Sorry, finals just ended and now I'm too lazy to bother looking for it myself, but I'll at least check here.

This is great man, you helped me so much..
I worship you

Hi to all and happy holidays!

I am new to the Wii scene and would like to ask for some inputs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I purchased a modded JAP Nintendo Wii few days ago. I can play all games included on the bundle... I have few questions though.

1. Stuck with JAP language. What's the best tool to use? (Anyregion changer and then change language settings from there?)
2. After reading several posts, I found out that my unit is semi bricked. Wii settings not accessible.
(Maybe I played a game... I clicked on something... It updated to wrong region... coz i remebered one time it restarted before being able to play the game)
2.1 Can i also use anyregion changer or better to use ISO discs to resolve my semi bricked wii?
2.2 How can i check my current firmware if I cannot access my Wii settings?
3. Is there a way to check what mod and how was it done on my Wii?
I assume it's a softmod but I don't want assumptions especially dealing with technical stuff.
Is there a way to check or confirm the kind of mod performed?

Thanks a lot and more power to GBAtemp for a great forum!

Regards,
Geckoquiver

I just wanted to say thanks for the guide, it has helped me a great deal. I have just a few quick questions in regards to the Trucha Bug Restorer.

1. I don't have Wifi so I downloaded NUSD so I could load the IOS from my SD card. In NUSD I found IOS15 in the database but I'm not sure which version to use. Do I just use the latest version?

2. Once I have that packed into a .wad and go to save it what do I name the wad file? Is IOS15 fine or does it need to be something specific?

3. Is IOS15 the only one I need in the root of the SD card to run the TBR?

Thanks for the help!

You might as well make a thread about that or something if you want to get more opinions on the region stuff, but anyways.

For questions 1-2, yea AnyRegionChanger is probably your best bet and I believe if you install preloader it should say what firmware and such you are on, but you may not want to install that while your Wii is already kinda messed up so you should probably just use ARC first.

For question 3, hardmods have nothing to do with softmods. If it was a hardmod, you would be able to play backup games through the disc channel and there probably wouldn't be any homebrew channel on your Wii. It is possible that could also mean it's softmodded, but then cIOSCORP would have had to be installed and then the HBC removed...in which case the hackmii installer would say you can't reinstall the HBC on top of that because all of your IOS's are fucked up. So basically if you have the HBC it's a softmod otherwise it's likely a hardmod. Either way whatever you do with your softmodding now shouldn't really make a difference with what was done on it before.

A bolded quote from the guide:

"I suggest you read through everything in here before starting on anything so you have a better overview of everything and hopefully understand what you do and do not need to do on your system without really needing to blindly follow another guide. (though I do recommend following xzxero's guide afterwards anyways.)"

This guide isn't really meant to be followed to hack your Wii in itself, it's mostly just to teach you what you should know when doing so. You can use xzxero's guide and get his package by emailing him and it will already have any files you need to do everything offline.

Question: if you have an LU64+ Wii is it possible to install the neogamma disc launcher on the Wii so you don't need an SD card to use it?

Managed to fix my semi-brick issues by using anyregion changer and using the downgrader included. I was also able to update to 4.2u but disc channel is not working. The only way to get it working is going to 3.2 system menu...
With 4.1 or 4.2, the only way I can play backup games is using usb loader gx or neogamma r7... I tried using startpatch 4.1 and did not work...
Any ideas what can I do to get the disc channel working?

Also, I installed geexbox and Mplayer CE. Geexbox will not read backed up dvd movies... Mplayer CE will detect the movie I put in. Btw, the geexbox I put in is mini version...

Can bootmi and preloader exist with each other?

thanks again!
