Hey guys,

Sorry for creating a new thread, posted my questions in noob paradise but didnt get any answers. TIA.

A lot of noob questions, as I got a pre-modded n3ds for Christmas :)

1. How do I know it has a CFW installed. When I start it it boots into initial setup.
2. Will i loose my CFW if I factory reset.
3. How do I know its not banned online.
4. What if I get an update from Nintendo, am I safe to install it.
5. I read about sysNand and emuNand on gbatemp and get the concept, do I use sysnand or emunand. How do I know which one is being used right now.
6. Any other advice for a first time 3ds user with CFW (total noob).

#1. Hold select while powering on and report what happens. Also screenshot of sdcard contents

Will need #1 before the rest could be accurately answered

I'd say the most accurate way to check if there is a CFW is to boot it while holding SELECT without an SD card. So if you have Luma in NAND, you'll get the config menu, and in all other cases except stock, the boot process is annoyed by the lack of SD card :P

With no microSd card, keeping select pressed and booting results in nothing. with microsd in place it boots to a screen with Luma (screenshot above).

hey buddy, attached are the contents of luma folder on my microsd, do i have luma 3ds?

I did follow Section III - Configuring Luma3DS on this link

https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax

How do I install homebrew launcher, fbi , godmode 9 etc ..which section do I proceed from the above guide.

I did login to the 3ds and am on latest firmware, did not connect to my wifi for fear of losing CFW.

If you're on 11.2 then it seems you've done section iv as well, so move on to section v.

You might also need to look through section i again, which points out where you need to put the files you downloaded for fbi/hourglass9 etc.

i installed fbi and hourglass 9..stuck on below steps.Select and start does bring me to Luma config

Section 6, step 20 ..with sd card removed it does not boot ..goes to a blank screen and just stays there ..

  1. Selecths.app(the original one that doesn’t contain FBI), then press (A) and confirm to inject
  2. Press (Select) on the main menu to eject your SD card
  3. Press (Start) to reboot with the SD card removed
    • Booting the device at least once with the SD card removed will allow you to configure the CTRNAND based luma installation
  4. Use the (A) button and the D-Pad to turn on the following:
    • “Show NAND or user string in System Settings”

And you've done the rest of section vi: i.e. copied /arm9loaderhax.bin to ctrnand via fbi?

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.
