I don't know why, but it came to my mind the idea that you also need to trucha patch the IOS used by the game. Haven't you tried that?

It worked! I "dopped" IOS 21 and the customs load fine now!

I have a few questions. I have what I'd call a first gen Wii. I bought it within 6 month of the original release date. I stumbled through a video on youtube quite a while ago to get homebrew channel and DVDX installed. I don't think I have Bootmii installed. I know I installed at least one new IOS although I don't know which one. I have both USB Loader GX and NeoGamma working and that is what I use to play games. But I want to get WiiWare and VC up and going. I also want to learn more in general about the process, so here goes. I'm at FW 4.1

1. What are IOSs? What do they do? How do I install them?
2. BootMii is a good idea to install to protect against problems. But how do I go about that since I already have the HB channel installed
3. How do I get WiiWare and VC up and going?
4. What is the difference between VC and running games through SNES9x Gx?
5. When is it good to update the FW? When is it not good?

Exactly the same situation I was in.

Download (Google) WBFS Manager 3.0. It'll format the USB stick for you AND let you transfer the Mario ISO across to it!
My second piece of advice is to download (Google, again!) NeoGamma r7 or r8beta CHANNEL (It'll let you operate through a Wii Channel rather than having to load via Homebrew Browser).

anyway i downloaded the wbfs manager 3.0 since i hadn't installed the netframe3.5 and the program asks you to i downloaded and installed it. however when i try to install the wbfs manager it still keeps asking me to install the netframe3.5 first and the installation process crashes...wtf?any help on here?

I've downloaded some iso files of wii games.. In order to run them for my Wii can i burn them on a DVD after softmoding my device or need to get an external usb drive?
 
Hey all, got some noobish questions for you here:

I updated to 4.2U after the original Bannerbomb softmod, and everything is working peachy.

I know that I didn't install BootMii when I first modded, and I'm wondering what risks I run by trying to install it now.

First, should I bother installing it?
Secondly, how should I run it? Inside HBC with Hackmii?

THEN give the WBSF manager a chance. =]

um.. quick question

why do we need to restore ios15 when doing the TBR? is something bad would happen when it was not restored? after you patched ios36?

i search google but just found tutorials about how to restore ios15 not why.

i asked this because, sometimes when..or after i downgraded ios15 and try to run TBR again HBC just went black and nothing. but after i restarted and try to load tbr it load fine then i can choose to reload ios 15 so i can patch ios36. is that common to happen? cause what will happen to my other wii without bootmii at boot2 if HBC return a black screen after downgrading ios15?

Well, if you don't restore IOS15, anything bad could happen. Usually it is safe to restart after Downgrading IOS15(I am assuming this), because I downgraded, went to HBC, and tried TBR; which gave me a code dump. I restarted, went to HBC, loaded TBR, and finished the instructions.

Question for you: Does HBC go to a black screen once in a while?

Without Bootmii, your Wii is unprotected against bricks. Without PreLoader and Bootmii, your Wii can become bricked if you do something wrong, as fast as you can say: brick.
 
yeah that was i'm worried aboout about. it happend to me 2 times playing around with my other wii which has bootmii as boot2. but as you also experienced i safely restarted the wii and finished retoring ios15

i just found out that if i run the HBC quickly after i downgraded ios15 i got a black screen. and i wait a couple of seconds before running anoter application it loads fine!!

thanks!! i learn something new and confirming the strange problem i got when downgrading IOS15!!!

Okay, before I start a new thread...

I just downloaded DDR Hottest Party 3 (U). In order to unlock the stuff from HP2 I need a DDR HP2 (U) savegame on my Wii. But I only played the EU version. Now I want to get a DDR HP2 (U) savegame onto my Wii without wasting an hour and another DVD on getting the actual game.

Is that possible?

Where are you sourcing the HP2 (U) savegame from? Kregg's List? =]
 
Wii PAL with 4.0E, very first version (1st week) with wiikey 1.9s

Just installed the homebrew channel with neogamma to play new super mario bross.
Got some errors about no cIOS, but smb now works fine.

It should also be nice to user neogamma as a channel (so my GF can easely launch it).

How can i install such a cISO? i've red some guides, but they describe a downgrade? would i want a downgrade < 4.0 and loose SDHC and stuff?
How to approach this? thanks in advance!

also, if i buy the original new super mario bross (which i will do since it's a nice game), will it work with the wiikey enabled?
