Hi, I'm fairly new to 3DS "hacking". I successfully followed the guide on 3dsguide on most parts. However, on the finalizing step, I did everything but update the 3ds because I heard that updating to the latest firmware can break many features. I've been playing ORAS and I need to be on the latest firmware in order to patch the games. Is it safe to update the system? I'm on 11.0.0-33U btw.

Usually safe to update, especially when the latest firmware has been out for a while. Generally speaking:
1. Make a NAND backup using GM9.
2. Update Luma3DS (manually) or using Luma Updater. (Might be a good idea to update GM9 and such while you're at it. You can use MultiUpdater.)
