I've decided to wait, and get a second 3DS so that i have one i can play with and one i can mod with. But ill remember that when i do it, i wonder why they never mentioned that i needed to hold L while booting Cakes..

1. I'm in 7.1.0-16U .... I'm ok with this? ... i need to downgrade to install somethin? ...

2. Can someone please give a link from this forum, if i'm in a good version, how to finally my 3ds load backups ?? ...

My 3ds its the Ocarina of time edition. (presume its the O3DS).

I used OoT3DHax as an entry point. I suppose I should go install menuhax and custom CFW now, but I rather get some sleep and work on it tomorrow.

Not too hard - I had a 3.0.0 bargain bin system that the seller had a parental lock on it. One call to Nintendo, and it was unlocked with the Master Key, and I spent 20 minutes getting a working copy of OoT3DHax and google-fuing the 9.2 update pack. Ten minutes of tossing everything onto the SD card and I was ready to start the downgrade. Boom - I now have a downgraded system!

can i use smashhax?

Be careful with that one. It apparently has a higher chance of bricking when running the downgrade apps although I've never tried it personally.

it is just unstable, and difficult to get working. One can try to downgrade to 10.5/10.3 first, then attempt to downgrade to 9.2.

Is it still N3DS only as well?

I think because of the simplicity, stability and availability of OOTHax not to many people bother with it so the support base just isn't there right now.

Okay, i finally downgraded to 9.2, and i have cakesfw on my rednand, but is there anyway to install cias onto the 3ds, or do i need to do other things, i was going to do Part 4 - Getting the OTP & Part 5 - arm9loaderhax. but it sounds to much mither

One successful downgrade over here, an N3DSXL on 9.5x, downgraded using this guide> https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-2-(Downgrading) got stuck at the end of the first downgrade so I just reinstalled homebew menuhax again and it installed the last update .cia file all OK. Great Job, quit easy really now I think about it!

Attempting another downgrade tonight. A 2DS system. Will probably update first using the system settings, and then slam in the OOTHax and the necessary files.

My 2DS gave me a scare. I had used OOTHax and the thing kept on hanging at the red touchscreen. I tried about three times and then I finally had it go into homebrew launcher. But SafeSysUpdate didn't show up. I got annoyed and took a chance (I know I copied all the files correctly and I know that the 9.2 files had I were okay since I downgraded my O3DS a couple of days ago.) The cia files all installed and it booted up fine as 9.2.

I have no idea why SafeSysUpdate didn't show up. Oh well, it went well, but I think I lost some brain cells in the process...

memchunkhax2.1 fails sometimes dude. Or you might have used an earlier version of it.
