Homebrew No$gba 2.3a released

Uhh no...I'm not wrong, and the debugger version is what I'm speaking about in being protected. The debugger and emulator are one int he same, just the freebie has the debugger removed, but given he made it open source, people would have access to copy his cores and so on and could easily tack on their own debugger which in turn would be a threat to his bottom line. Point in case there.

Also beyond that for a long while none of it was free and the public either got a version older or most th etime nothing at all. I also have followed that guys work since no$ started well before gba was around in emulation circles as I used to do NES work. He's not one ever to share, when others stupidly do share with him he doesn't return the favor. All that is the basis of my post and it's fairly put and accurate.

So, the main point of criticism is that he doesn't publish his work as open source, is that correct?

Sorry, but besides Cuba and North-Korea there's no country left where this behaviour would be deemed questionable, I think. It's his programm and he can do pretty much with it what he wants.

I'll quote Confucius now and create an awful analogy, just to make me look a little less stupid: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime" - and that's just what Martin is doing! Teaching you how to fish. You can't use his debugger, since he wants to earn some money with it. Which is his perfectly legal right. But if you want to code your own debugger everything you need to know is on his site.

Long live, no$gba author! Keep up the good work!

I made a little quick application of my own simply called the NO$GBA Loader. Basically, as you all know, DeSmuME uses unencrypted ROMs, NO$GBA uses encrypted ROMs. I use NDSTool to go back and forth and up till now had one folder with the encrypted version and one with the unencrypted... a great use of an extra 1.5GB of space. Well, this app opens a file dialog, then encrypts the selected ROM, runs NO$GBA, then when NO$GBA is done it unencrypts the ROM for use in other emulators again. It's not perfect, it does the job I need to do, so if anyone else can make use of it, enjoy!

THIS IS JUST THE LOADER... YOU NEED NDSTOOL, THE ROMS, THIS LOADER, AND NO$GBA IN THE SAME FOLDER FOR THIS TO WORK! YOU ALSO NEED .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0!

Thanks to his research, many hobbist dev were able to understand how the GBA&NDS are working.
Each time he develops an emulator, he also creates a fully documented doc on the emulated hardware.
That's the definition of "not returning the favor" for you?
He spends more hours on reversing the GB/GBC/GBA/NDS/NES hardware than anyone else.
Don't you think some work deserve money? Whithout thinking that his emu is free. Only the debugger will cost you 15$.

Btw, his Nes emulator is far more recent than NO$GMB (almost 7 years).

nice.

say ... did you go on with your compatibility list somewhere ? cuz you stoped here once and its really interesting to se the differences from the older versions.

that bug with the screen being upsidedown ... wasn't it with DeSmuMe as well ? or do i recognize something wrong ?

P.S. any info's about DeSmuMe you are allowed to tell us ? (you are something like beta tester right ?)

The DeSmuMe doesnt have 3-D capability ...yet but only the lower screen is showing in menu and that's it. I do not go on with my compatibility list any longer. It is improvement than the older no$gba versions. There is no upsidedown in DeSmuMe at all because it doesnt have 3-D yet. Soon, it will.

Yes, I am beta tester for DeSmuMe. The next version have ds-card emulation and yoshi's island ds is playable and some others. Expect for the increase compatibility games in the next version but speed is still a little bit issue.
