Well I'm glad to see someone working on the DSP issues, as I have been trying to solve some of the freezing issues myself. Without a USB Gecko though, I've been doing a lot of loading, reloading, and reloading again to read the logs off the SD Card and try to figure out the actual freeze points.

The more I look into the depth of this code, the more impressed I am with the level of knowledge crediar has with these systems.

This isn't good. Either you got to keep an old Wii around, or you got to keep and old Wii around to make your games work on your Wii U. Bummer, seriously.
Patience xDel patience. With some of the current devs and interest in the project by several people, progress is abound, however like mustardtits said, baby steps man, baby steps lol.

Me thinks in less than a year we'll see some great improvements :yaywii:

I'm confused at your disheartened mood  If anything, this program is getting better, slowly but surely B-)

I just keep seeing posts that say it is dead or hardly being worked on, etc. etc.

Sorry, I got the Winter Blues. If there are positive posts, my blinders must not be allowing me to see them right now.

Glad to hear people are in fact interested! Nintendon't seems the most practical and user friendly solution over all. I am grateful for Devoution, but once it came time to load my Wii U with Gamecube games, I quickly became frustrated. I would be happy, and happy to donate for that matter, towards a project that merely allows me to load up my back up images and go, that's all I ask for, something that will cut hours of work, and the boredom of getting up, inserting disc, copying, verifying on my Wii, re-verfiying on my Wii U, and repeat the process.

This project has lots of merit, and I do believe there are a few people working on it.

The code behind Nintendont is quite amazing, though in places I do find it kind of ugly to follow. Joostin started out with cleaning up a lot of the code which I do believe is a great first step, because as long as the code is hard to read and work with it makes it harder for future developers to help out. Without Crediar involved in the actual project it is requiring anyone to learn how the code works, then figure out where things need to be fixed and added, which can be quite a task when dealing with such a complicated project.

Currently I see a few main challenges ahead:
  • Cleaning up the codebase
  • Adding/Fixing Additional DSPs
  • Finding the cause of many of the game hang ups (missing exceptions? additional patches? memory mapping issues?)
  • Adding USB Drive support
  • Possibly adding additional Controller support (Wii Classic Controller? through builtin bluetooth)
I'm probably missing quite a few things.

Personally I have been playing with this project because I like the idea of the challenge, and to maybe not have to worry about losing gamecube disks in the future. But I do believe even with a bunch of talented developers working on this, it will be some time before this will run the 90+% of games flawlessly.

My thoughts exactly! One thing at a time, I don't care how small, any improvement especially when it comes to code cleanup and documentation is important and a valuable asset to the project.

This is the best project to Wii in a long time, but be patient and let developers work without pressure.

I've tried to put 'controller.ini' in sd:\ to play games with PS3 Controller but i CAN'T DO IT. The games never load.

Any idea?

Do you have enabled the "HID controller" option in Nintendont (B button)?

Have put the game in: SD:\ games \ "name game" \ game.iso?

Have you tried with another SD card?

Would a gamecube to usb adapter be doable?

For the controllers? I believe there was earlier talk of using the MayFlash Gamecube to USB device (check ebay, usually $15-20). But I don't know if they work or not. Controller support will definitely be something that will need to be improved in the future. Even if it is a secondary app that lets you create a controller.ini dynamically.

I tried it out on PJ64 and it worked well, just showed as a usb controller. Plus each one has 2 ports, so you only need 2.

Hello all.

I have a Wii U, running Nintendont with a PS3 controller. I can see my game list and select a game but after it loads and goes to blank screen the Wii U hangs for a min or so and then reboots.

I would like to get this figured out. So I can start testing all my games (It took me 2 weeks non-stop to run diskex app on all of my GC discs. I ripped them all and one by one tested them in Dolphin so I know my rips from the discs are good.) I got a lot of testing to do. but cant get 1 single game to load with out restting its self

Could be the SD card itself, some may work, other brands/models may not.

UPDATE: I disabled Memory Card Emulation, and tested with just 2 titles so far but 1st titles) Amazing Island = loads to memory card select screen, I select start with out card and then it goes to a white screen and hangs. 2nd title) 4x4 Evolution, loads to a green screen and hangs.

I am going to try an other SD card, current card is an 8gb Kingston class 10, I will try my 8gb Patriot and 16gb Adata next

quick questions, in my DiscEX rips, there is a folder called "sys" with 3 files in them, they are needed correct (this is the folder that sits in the amazing island folder next to the game.iso file

i dont think the sys files are needed but i did keep mine there just incase. also you say you myt test a different sd card. maybe look at the kluster bytes its formatted with as well. (dios mios run better with a 32kb i think) so im guessin it will be simular principles with this

i read in the compitabliti list that zelda windwaker dosnt like the mcemu? i wasnt here a long time....

I can confirm that the latest release has working mcemu on wiiU on WW. Someone probably tested with mcemu disabled

Edit: fixed it on the list for anybody else

Edit2: The only games that have compatibility change so far are games that have dsp10 which should have audio fixed (Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion both have dsp10). Sadly Luigi's Mansion NTSC freezes on boot so we cannot check the audio fix. Someone with PAL version could check and update us with the news
