weird. I tried that too before when the Update came out to play Wii on gamepad (4.0 I think) with the wii composite cables and it did the same thing (could not boot wii mode, turn off the system) or something to that effect.

You have to make sure it's set up right though. If I use component (not RCA/composite) you have to tell it to have that connection in the settings. HDMI will not work when the TV is off for vWii, but for normal Wii U, it's fine.

Can someone please link us to the actual "usb to classic controller adapter" that was used in that test?

A couple of questions:
Does SSB Melee runs?
Does audio works or it is bugged for all games??
If it works for some games, does it works for Melee?
NMM works for Melee or it still has the same isues than DIos Mios?

Thanks in advance, great work ^^

According to https://github.com/Nanolx/nintendont-controller it shows that a usb to classic controller adapter works...im not sure if the one I linked is the correct one or not. If it is you just plug that classic controller to gamecube adapter into it and it SHOULD work.

This needs to be in your controller.ini: https://raw.github.com/Nanolx/nintendont-controller/master/nintendont_wiiccusb.

but now it's getting kind of pricey lol. I might buy that usb adapter to try with my gamecube to classic adapter and update the thread

Also that adapter has 2 classic controller ports....2 player supported??????
Thanks, that helps a lot!
I was wondering about the 2 player as well. :)

Edit: Hopefully someone has the link.
Edit 2: I'll do some more research and post back as soon as possible.

My only concern is that Mega Man X won't work due to how funky the resolution that game was rendered at 240p( the Wii U only goes as low as 480i). I tried that game on Dios Mios with component cables on a regular Wii and all I got was a black screen. Are you by chance using HDMI at full HD resolution? I'm wondering how Nintendont handles that game due to its funky resolution :P

I checked it earlier, it cannot create a save:sad:

looks fine with 480 and wide turned on with hdmi+1080p tv

Hmm peculiar. Wonder why it freaked out in Dios Mios then, because it showed the intro screen, but once I got in-game, black screen. Either that, or it was due to the fact the TV I used a year ago has issues with that resolution or something. As for in-game saves, well, I'm sure it'll be fixed, my fault for asking....whoops on my part :D

Do you know the exact Mayflash classic controller to usb adapter used in the HID test? I think I found a way to make Nintendont support gamecube controllers

No, I don't unfortunately, I don't have one to test. All I have is a PS3 controller.... :unsure: I thought those adapters were spotty at best.

It's incredible what you guys are doing.
That's a great project . I hope you will be successful.

Thumbs up for this great community, crediars pre-work and the people who took over the project.

Btw. I have a suggestion concerning the controller layout:

Most of the modern controllers have 4 shoulder buttons and a Select/Start Button.
Due to the position of the Z Button on the Gamecube controller it was mostly used as button for further options (like the map in Super Mario Sunshine, map in Metroid Prime).
So a proposal would be to use the 4 shoulder buttons for the different analog positions. E.g:
Wii Pro Controller Mapping (PS3; I know the PS3 has analog trigger, but maybe its simpler to create a common mapping) -> GameCube Controller Button
Lz (L2) -> 100% L
L (L1) -> 50% L
Rz (R2) -> 100% R
R (R1) -> 50% R
Minus (Select) -> Z
Plus (Start) -> Start

With this mapping games like Super Mario Sunshine (which needs the 50% analog shoulder buttons for running and water shooting), should be playable in a comfortable way.

Sorry if this has been asked already, how do you see the dsp version? Are they're logs that get dumped onto the sd card and if so where?
