Hacking Nintendont cheats not working

I'm trying to use cheats with Mario Kart: Double Dash (from disc) but everytime I try to boot the game it goes to a black screen (I turned on the Drive Access LED setting and the LED blinks a for around 5 seconds after booting the game but it's still black). If I disable cheats the game will just boot and work fine. Please help!

Edit: There was something wrong with my codes. I tried different ones and it worked
