As long as I can play them in all their 240i glory

I wonder what kind of battery life we'd have if it was just used to watch videos.

Probably pretty good to be honest, video uses less resources than games from my understanding and hardware decode really brings resource use down a lot. I would guess in my hypothetical "Android Switch" we would also get a fully rooted ROM so that would be nice. Netflix and other streaming options seem like they would run fine too? Maybe not 4K like the Shield TV can do but surely 1080P video would be perfectly fine?

The days all movies come in 700Mb sizes. Ah...

I am surprised to find they still put these things out... Not sure who is watching a 700MB rip of Black Panther but hell if I didn't laugh about it when I seen the torrent... I wonder if the deblocking techniques have gotten better or do fast action scenes still look like the Lego games...

This is why i love this fórum :)
Poor guy says divx and it's Total War on him :)
Keep it going

Kodi is working under Linux on the Switch and it can play old codecs like DiVX/XViD along with newer containers like MKV with h264/h265 video. Until the sound gets worked out though it's kind of useless. VLC is bloated and slow. I would rather see a MPV Media Player port. It doesn't have a fancy GUI, but it can play 4k videos on my Core 2 Quad computer just fine (where VLC fails miserably).

For all the bitching and useless question asking around here I do love a good laugh and this thread has certainly provided that. Shows the good natured side of people too sometimes.

So yeah let's get developing the NXMC! RETRO FTW
