That's true, but what I mean is that they could store logs or some sort of CFW identifier in the Nintendo folder at the SD. Not actually reading off it if it has CFW files.

Not sure how much longer I should continue this discussion, but a lawyer can easily twist the truth to making it appear worse than usual.

You just answered not clearing your logs prior to going online but indicated in your comment that you did clear logs. If you did clear logs, what firmware were you on?

My fault. I am on 5.1.0.

When I first started messing with my second switch I did not go online at all (airplane mode, didn’t delete WiFi settings) in the switch OS( did use WiFi on Linux). Today, I cleared all the logs, completely fortmatted console (did not add a WiFi setting). I booted normal without CFW. Added WiFi settings, played legit MARIO odyssey cart for an hour or so and attempted to link a new account to download fortnite. Got the banned message. In mobile, sorry. It’s difficult lol.

For the first switch I used home brew only. I did have crashes when I used (can’t remember what exactly, but it was when I tried to go to album one time) and never cleared logs. It’s always online. Not banned yet, but if it does, I’ll post here.

Yeah, I guess you are right, but the furthest they could get in invading sd card would be storing logs of CFW on the SD that aren't cleared by dreport. But yeah I guess that what you are saying is very correct from a legal perspective. I guess we should end this here or something lol.

Sorry if its because I'm not reading it properly, but you cleared the logs before you were on 5.1 or after? And if you did clear the logs prior to 5.1, you were not on a 5.X firmware correct? I'm just trying to rule out your ban due that one error from running LayeredFS which SciresM confirmed is dangerous.

Okay. So I’ll explain from the beginning. I found about the hack and attempted it on my first switch. Only home brew. I decided I didn’t want to ban the account or console I spent a couple hundred on digital games, so I got a new switch.

Second switch: I completely upgraded it to 5.1.0 and put it on airplane. For a couple of weeks I tested a bunch of different things. Emulators, that layeredFS (once and it crashed), Linux (used WiFi on Linux), but I never ran the devmenu.

Other than Linux, my second switch was never off airplane mode until today.

I first cleared all of my logs, formatted my switch and then ran OFW. I entered WiFi settings on OFW, played MARIO, tried to relink. Banned. (I did leave the SD card with payload for battery fix and Linux)

This is interesting. Could definitely mean that formatting doesn't clean some parts of the nand that store vital information for nintendo, or perhaps that info isn't even there in the first place... I'm interested in this because I pretend on going online later with Emunand by injecting a clean nand I had previously (my actual nand should have traces of SX OS). If I get banned, it could mean even that this sensitive data isn't stored in the nand at all, if possible. Certainly this will prove to be some useful data for OP later.

The first thing I did was backup my Nand on my second switch. Maybe I should have did a restore before I went back online. Seeing how many people are getting banned, I figured I would. Just really hoping my first switch and actual account don’t get banned.

Since you can't access the eShop on your Switch, try to access/download something from it on a computer using the account that may have been banned. Need to know if this method can be used to differentiate ban types.

For these people, it would be interesting if apart from silverspring, they cleared their logs, since this could be important in figuring out what is going on.

I'm assuming that none used CDN. And also none answered if they disabled error reporting, so that could play a role in bans.

If it’s the log deleting thing in the Hekatu, yeah. I didn’t know that’s the name of it, but yeah. I cleared the logs. I didn’t unlink account, because I didn’t want to go online before I formatted system. I still have information and can give it a go after I take a nap.

Yeah there has to be something that dreport is doing that is getting caught by Nintendo.

I guess it depends, since if he just formatted from the switch then that could have kept logs, but wiping the nand completely would be the safe side of things (As well as wiping SD) or recovering a nand backup from before CFW.

Decided to get on right quick before I nap. It does let me login with the account and also download games. It just says it's downloading to the switch, but I no longer have that account on my switch, because I did a system format and did no unlink it. (This is the only account I had on the switch since I got it)

When you say you completely reformatted your 2nd switch, was this the factory reset option which also deletes your saves, or did you keep them?

I deleted everything. And did not go online to unlink account.
