Express Sd cards are not supported in the Rog Ally. I think you are mistaken about your 512gb cards. They are different than the standard sd cards and not cheap, around $70 for 256gb. They look like this:

You might be correct I am going to have to double check my sd card specs.
I assumed that the A2 and the 3 inside the U meant that it was an faster card therefore an express one.
My mistake.

So are Game Key Carts going to cost as much as $90 because they're a "physical" release? This is bizarre. It's a pointless physical release as you have to download the game.
Plus $80 a game, $60 for a 256gb Express micro sd card, $80 for a Pro controller, $50 carrying case
You can get a tempered glass screen protector and case fairly cheap on AliExpress, but if you buy on Amazon you probably get the same product overpriced.
In UK price for console is a little better but I'm more concerned for the game prices!
Damn, Nintendo...

In the UK, the system will cost £395.99, with the Mario Kart World bundle costing £429.99.

In Europe, the system will cost €469.99, with the Mario Kart World bundle costing €509.99

In Canada, the system will cost $629.99, with the Mario Kart World bundle costing $699.99

This whole price thing for the games and the hike in price for the system itself has killed my excitement for the switch 2.
I guess ill get it down the line.
Nintendo really is not doing a good job at making people want to buy this thing.
This is starting to feel like Sony and the PS3 release fiasco.

I'm 34 this year - not terribly old, but been around long enough to see console gens come and go, and enough memory to remember the rapid YoY improvements during the 90's and 00's:

I'm surprised so many folks are upset over the price of the Switch 2 console. It seems pretty in line with the rest of the market these days.

It's essentially a mobile device. I've bought my family some new phones over the past few years - flagships there are going for ~$1K these days. The Pixel 9a (Google's "budget" device) starts at $500. The iPhone 16e (again, "budget") starts at $599. If you want to compare to tablets, the Samsung S10 FE starts at $499.

While all of those may have better specs by some metric, they also don't have the dedicated controllers, the dock, next gen expandable storage, kickstand, etc. To me, the Switch 2 seems to undercut all those, actually.

Compared to other handhelds, I think you can get something like the Retroid Pocket 5 for ~$220. Honestly, that thing is a screaming deal for what it is, but it also lacks pretty much any manufacturer support and is really only meant for retro emulation. The Steam Deck can be had for $399 new (absolute base model), but has an awful display and is much larger and chunkier.

So, to me, Switch 2 pricing seems about right for what it is.

I think perhaps what people are actually upset about is the value proposition of the Switch 2 versus the existing console (Switch). I've been saying it for years at this point, but definitely compared to the 90's and 00's, gaming has pretty much stagnated. I really haven't seen any huge improvement/changes (either gen or gen or even just in basic game design) in over a decade at this point. There really isn't anything "new" here.

With that in mind, do we actually NEED a Switch 2? The answer is "probably not." The new hardware really doesn't bring anything new to the table. With an appropriate amount of effort, pretty much every game that will be released for Switch 2 could probably be made to run on the original Switch. But the key there is "with the appropriate amount of effort."

The real reason this console exists is basically a spec bump to keep in line with the rest of the technological landscape, and to reduce the amount of effort required for devs to get things running on it. That's pretty much it.

Should you be upset about that? Well, maybe. If you already have a Switch, it means you're eventually going to get left behind in terms of game library, and will be "forced" to upgrade to a new console after already spending money on your existing one. And you'll need to do that with very little perceptible gain in terms of types of games you can play or the visual quality thereof. And yeah, that kind of sucks, but you probably won't need to consider doing that for at least a few years.

If you're just getting into the console market, it sucks that the future-proofed price-of-entry is higher than it was now ($299 for base Switch to now $450). But the Switch was essentially priced in 2017 and never received a price adjustment, so that $299 would actually be ~$390 if it was launched today (inflation). So a $60 increase in buy-in price overall. With all the changes that have happened in the world since then, a 15% increase in buy-in cost honestly seems about right.

But hey, that's just me. The increase in game price is another conversation altogether. But I'm tired of typing now and I figure that's enough of a treatise for the time being, so I'll just end it here.

Latest news:

125% increase on China (Bad for phones and prices still)
TARRIFS stopped for 3 months on other nations (Good for most nations to renegotiate + Switch Fans are happy due to manufacturing in Vietnam not being effected for 3 months now)
