It's not like HD magically makes those tiny fonts bigger. Making them more crisp may or may not make them easier to read. I use normal cables with no issues to date.

On topic: I wish Live would just use plain cash now. All those prepaid cards suck ass. Nintendo used a system that took far less math to figure out though.
