Hacking Nintendo new handheld

To be honest, once the DSlite runs its course, I'm done with Nintendo and their kiddie games. I enjoyed the GBA, but the DS has been mostly a disappointment to me with the extreme amounts of shovelware sissy crap or screwed over remakes or sequels that force lame touchscreen use down your throat or endless cookie-cutter RPG's, etc. ad nauseum.
I'm sick of it and I refuse to support a company that endorses selling massive amounts of really lame shovelware as a good thing, meanwhile games that people actually want never get produced (2D Metroid, F-Zero or Street Fighter, for example). Why do you think I just download all the games? If it wasn't for the occasional decent 3rd-party or homebrew game, I'd have sold off the DS long ago.

[Rayder] You're 100% right Instead of focusing on GOOD titles like Street Fighter,Metroid,Zelda,Final Fantasy they ignored that and went for the kiddies Ninty is so fail i remember when they had good titles... for gba Street Fighter III,Street Fighter II,Metroid Fusion,Metroid Zero,Final Fantasy I/II/IV/Tactics/V and so on... idk this is my opinion but i think Ninty is now a Game Company 4 Kids they completely tossed Gamers aside for a quick buck

Video games and video game consoles&handhelds are losing originality as time goes on. Sony and Nintendo are just trying to expand their handhelds because they don't have anything else. No other good ideas. They are just whoring us out with DS and PSP updates that should of happened when they were first released.I don't know about you guys, but I am tired of the same old, same old.I waiting for a new handheld. New software, new hardware, new everything. Seems to me like its a perfect time for Microsoft to bring something into the handheld industry.

i loved every handheld i got. GB, GBA, DS Lite, PSP.
in my opinion, how much i bought them is worth what they are to me now.

i use my ds to play good games and to watch some movies(iplayer).
i use my PSP to play some good games and mostly listen to music because of its good
library organization. emulators too.

if a handheld is released to do both, offer high internal storage, even if its not more powerful than
the other current gen handheld, i would buy it at any price.

as long as it offers mostly what i am looking for, PLUS good games, i'll buy it...

i am studying software development, so it would be very fun to enter this industry, and modify
what gaming handhelds have.

Well, the thing is, what "we" ("we" being the "hardcore" group) want makes no difference, whatsoever. It's all about the money, and there's a LOT of money in the "kiddie" casual market. There's really no reason whatsoever to support the smaller market when you could be making more money in another market. Terrible as it may be, it's just standard marketing practice.

Its does not have enough power for things that people really want like looking movies good web browser and more things.

Yeah, that's be why the 3DO had better games than the SNES.

There's lots of cracking games out for the DS, I don't know why people keep having tantrums that loads of games come out that they don't want to play because they're not aimed at their demographic. Short answer - don't play them. The DS has or is going to have a Metroid game, two Zelda games, three Castlevania games, fuck knows how many final fantasy games, Mario Kart, a brand new classic Mario platformer, new Mario RPGs, Disigea games, Devil Survivor, a fuck load of Luminous Arc style games, the entire Ace Attorney series in english, a new Diddy Kong racing, a true Dragon Quest sequel, a true Contra sequel, a new GTA game, new 2D sonic games, new franchises like Professor Layton and trauma centre, two excellent new Picross games... Who fucking cares if these games are being bankrolled by authorising Imagine games and developing Brain Training? The PS2 has even more garbage than the DS, it still had its gems. This is what happens when a machine becomes popular. Oh no, there are games aimed at children on the DS. People might think you're playing Imagine Babysitter when they see you with a DS at school rather than big manly race car games.

I think this is plain and simple not true.

So for the media part I wonder who doens't own a laptop nowerdays or at least a netbook ? How small can a screen (size and resolution) + speakers get for a decent multimedia experience and on the other hand how big and heavy can a handheld get so its still deserves that name ?
Just get a 720+p netbook and enjoy your surfing, movie watching wuteva... I dont see the point in dishing out more than 200 bucks for a portable gaming device, i carry around in my pocket.

Though mp3 playback on DSi would be nais, who wants to carry around an additional Mp3Player anyways ^^

i think the most people miss a handheld mediaplayer on which gaming is possible (good games )
if u have everything in one mobile gaming handheld it would be better than walking with 10 things

I don't have a laptop/netbook, for the record. The money tree just isn't blooming this season. However, I think it'd just be better to use an iPod. You can play all your music and video, even on an older iPod Video. Headphones sound a lot better than speakers (not to mention they're more private) and it's better than lugging around a laptop.

You can just convert all your MP3s to AAC via iTunes. iTunes is a shitty program, but it can do atleast that.
