Nintendo has released another Fire Emblem mobile game

There's a new Fire Emblem game--and it's not the one that just got announced in the last Nintendo Direct. Announced at Tokyo Games Show 2025 was Fire Emblem Shadows, a new spinoff entry into the series, releasing today for mobile platforms. Shadows is described as a "role-playing social deduction" game where three players will go into battle, having to determine which one of them is betraying the group.

After the initial battle, players vote to determine who they believe is the treacherous disciple of shadow. The outcome of the vote affects whether the next battle is more favorable or more challenging. Whether the disciples of light can correctly discover the traitor—or the disciple of shadow can successfully deceive the others—holds the key to how the next battle unfolds.

cashgrab nintendo. doesnt care about making real games anymore. just finding ways to sucker the braindead for more money. fanboys are their only customer base at this point. everyone is laughing at nintendo except the fanboys. and lol are they fun to laugh at lol

You probably don't know this but the last mobile fire emblem game literally took home $1.3bn in revenue in the span of 8 years.
Nope, definitely didn't know. No wonder Nintendo is continuing to invest in mobile games. That motivated me to look up what Super Mario Run makes/made. According to this article on mobilegamer.biz:
We pulled all of the below data from Appmagic, which does not record the 30% cut Apple and Google get from IAPs. So the below revenue figures are estimates of Nintendo’s actual earnings from each game.

First, the headline figures: Nintendo’s lifetime earnings from mobile stand at $1.64bn, with a total of 730m downloads to date. Here’s how that looks over time:

Top earning games (lifetime):

  • Fire Emblem Heroes: $891m from 13.9m downloads
  • Mario Kart Tour: $273m from 267m downloads
  • Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp: $271m from 65.8m downloads
  • Dragalia Lost: $122m from 4.6m downloads
  • Super Mario Run: $70m from 365m downloads
  • Dr. Mario World: $11.2m from 13m downloads
It's still surreal, having Nintendo develop for non-Nintendo platforms, but hey, it's profitable. Mario Kart, Fire Emblem, and Animal Crossing are the big earners.

There was a new switch 2 fire emblem in the latest direct
Point Taken. I dont like the directs, other people like it but for me is big NO.

For the record i didnt know there is a new game fire emblem that will use all the hardware graphic from the switch2 console.

But im still %100 this mobile game its a cheap effort from nintendo.

I'm surprised there's a huge fandom because I don't usually run into vocal Fire Emblem fans. I suppose the same is true of Persona fans: They're out there, but they're quiet outside their fandoms. People like their SRPG's and JRPG's.

It's interesting because Fire Emblem started on the Famicom, but it didn't reach the US until the GBA. Despite that, the worldwide fanbase is huge.
Fire Emblem Awakening on the NDS changed everything for the franchise, it was sort of a last chance installment and it saved the franchise by making it achieve worldwide success. Fire Emblem is now definitely one of Nintendo's main franchises, there's a reason Smash Bros has so many FE characters.

I was just saying the other day that Nintendo should make FE movies instead of those stupid Mario movies, because there's plenty of motion picture material in the Fire Emblem games.

Why does this franchise get as much attention as Mario?
FE has a fanbase in the real world that must skew something like 40% female, 60% male, or at best it's 50/50. You simply don't have those kinds of number in any "core" game. They can reach a lot of critical mass with it.

Heroes is trash and egregiously monetised, even in the realm of gacha games. I'm sure this will be no different.

Not that it matters, since western Fire Emblem releases suck. They usually "translate" them so poorly (it wasn't just Fates, and not just Fates and Engage) that it's scarcely even worth playing them at this point.
It reminds me of the terrible Dragon Quest "translations" that the fans swear are necessary even though they just butcher the original scripts.

People seem to think Fire Emblem does really well, but the biggest success has mostly just been Heroes, since it's gachaslop with waifus with whales who spend, in some cases, tens of thousands of dollars a month on it. Why you'd do that even if you were filthy rich is completely beyond me, though.
