I did my last blog post on me sending to Nintendo an email mostly on asking about a possibility of a YouTube app, transferring preloaded DSiWare on XL -> 3DS and chat feature in the friend list (something like that).

This is the reply.
Hello,

Let me answer each of your questions in order.

1. I'm glad you like the Internet Browser! We appreciate hearing about the types of applications that you would like to see from us in the future for the Nintendo 3DS.
2. Chat feature - Unfortunately, we have no information on that at this time.
3. Pre-loaded Software - DSiWare/Applications (games that came on the system) will not be transferred to the Nintendo 3DS. This includes titles like: Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math, and Photo Clock.
Note: If you "purchased" these titles separately via the DSiShop, they will transfer normally during the system transfer process.

Hope this answers all your questions!

Sincerely,

Annie Bowman
Nintendo of America Inc

Yes, overall disappointing huh? and yes, I praised Nintendo over the internet browser... I mean I really like it!

YouTube app possible? Doubt so now... Nintendo Video is going to be on, and likely to be a Wii Channel revamp. But who knows? Hopefully!

Oh, and my brother's birthday is coming up next week... Darn. What should I get for him? A handmade card sounds good but he is definitely going to throw it away after that.

Well, Youtube will not happen since it requires flash and the adobe president doesn't want flash in mobile devices. At least that's what I read somewhere here.

Btw, any 'positive' terms I used in my first post are solely used to cheer myself up. So please don't flare me.

i thought the browser is even worse than the psp browser. its just faster to navigate due to the touch screen. But i still use it, like today for gamefaqs.

anyways i hope theres a youtube app, but i don't really care. just cool to have. but i really need that chat option. i have no idea why they didn't add any chat/messaging system what-so-ever.

I like the browser simply because:
1. It is much faster and easier to navigate than the DSi Browser
2. It feels natural

A little blocky, however a huge improvement from the DSi line, that's why.

I won't expect any YouTube app, but the chat feature not there = sole disappointment

There is flash available on PSP's, it's just older flash that doesn't work for Youtube. You can also view Youtube on many mobile devices, which would require flash of some sort. I can't even begin to fathom where you got that from.

I also don't mind the PSP browser. Slower to type on than even homebrew browsers for the DS, but it never fails me for its primary purposes (Facebook and, well, porn).

iPhones. iPod touch. ipads. android phones. all have YouTube apps on them. 3ds can get one if youtube decide to make one. the 3ds should be able to run it.

Well, they MIGHT consider.

Androids have Flash 10.1, now probably there is 10.2 not sure

Nintendo might consider after reading your e-mail then later forget about it, only way to fight this is, we all send Nintendo an e-mail requesting for the YouTube App.

The fuck

How is it Nintendos fault if there is no YouTube app? It's up to Nintendo to allow a YouTube app but they don't make it.
Are you forgetting who owns YouTube?

Youtube doesn't need flash, it's possible to make a custom program to stream the videos, no flash requirement (and youtube has some HTMl5 video support).

It's Steve Jobs from apple who doesn't want flash in his mobile devices, such as ipod/iphone/ipad. He claims it drains battery too fast and instead of letting consumers choose, he removed the choice all together

But I have to say, even without flash, I still find it okay. 99% of web pages open smoothly, YouTube vids open great in the browser etc.

There's no need for Flash for a 'mobile', imo.

When do we get Netflix?
When do we get the friend chat and does that include video feed?
Will there be a youtube app or away to watch videos on the browser?
What is Nintendo video?
Is there a wifi Pictochat coming? Flipnotes?

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in the Nintendo 3DS. I can confirm that Netflix members will be able to access their accounts and watch movies and TV shows on their Nintendo 3DS systems at no extra charge. While not all of the details are available yet (including whether or not content will be available in 3D), we do know that if you’re watching a movie using any Netflix-enabled device (like the Wii console), you can pause it, and then continue watching on the Nintendo 3DS at the point where you left off.

It’s important to note that Netflix instant streaming will be a separate download from the Nintendo eShop. When we have additional information, we’ll update our Nintendo 3DS-dedicated website. I’ve provided a direct link below:

http://www.nintendo.com/3ds

Also, at this time, we have no plans to include a built-in messaging (like PictoChate) or a youtube application on the Nintendo 3DS. However, I’ll be sure to document your interest in such a feature and share it with other departments to use as they see fit.

Also, Flipnote Studio is not available on the system as a pre-installed application, nor will users be able to transfer the software from a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL. I can confirm, however, that Nintendo plans to develop a similar application for the Nintendo 3DS. As soon as we have more details about this application, we will share the information on our website at www.nintendo.com.

In addition, we had hoped to have the short-form video service application available at the launch of the Nintendo eShop. However, we are still in the process of developing this service as we want to be sure that it is polished and ready to go. While a specific date has not yet been determined, I can tell you that in the near future, users will be able to download this free application that will enable them to view specially selected video content, including 3D movie trailers, comedy clips and music videos automatically received using the SpotPass feature. (Please note that this service will be different than the Netflix download, which is scheduled to be available sometime this summer.)

In the meantime, we do have game videos that can be downloaded via the Nintendo eShop (go to Recent Arrivals and select New Software). Be sure to check them out!

As for the Nintendo 3DS browser, it does not have Flash, so you will not be able to watch videos online.
