Hi, I have a problem with my DS and I wanted a "diagnosis" before I tried to fix it myself. When I play a game, any game, my top screen has a red and sometimes blue hue over it, placing pressure over the top right side of the bottom of the DS temporarily fixes this and sometimes applying pressure to the bottom right side of the top screen fixes it.

I have been told that my connector may be loose, but GameStop told me that my DS is close to dying and I need to get it replaced immediately...which seems rather dramatic to me. I've also been told to just replace the screen. Which seems a little inexpensive, but time isn't on my side, for I want my DS for my trip in about a week.

I just need a little guidance in the right direction before I spend money on a screwdriver, ribbon cable and a top screen, when I may have only needed a screwdriver.

Gamestop probably lied to you so you would buy another DS, no DS gives a Screen a hue when its dying.
The problem is probably your screen, or the the cable which connects the bottom part of the DS and the top screen, if you have a Lite you will have to replace the Top screen, as said cable is part of the screen, if you have a Phat you only have to replace the cable.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
