i have a question my ir wont work on my dsi for pokemon black (im using ACEKARD 2i) and my brother has pokemon black (he is using EDGE) and experiencing the same problem. For some reason we cant connect on the IR and even extralink, we couldnt connect either.
Please Help Us.

The IR is easily explainable. IR stands for infrared. To be short, no flash cart in existence has this, while it is built into retail copies of Pokemon Black and White, as well as retail copies of Heart Gold and Soul Silver for the Pokewalker.

If it uses IR, you can not use it without a retail cart.

Meaning to say we cant battle or trade in pkmn black and white without the real flashcart?

Meaning you should use wireless, such as the Union Room in Pokemon Centers.
