The 360 that looks like an Xbox One is probably the safest one to get? I mean, no RRoDs or whatever.

Do those still have power bricks? Let me check... Unfortunately, yes.

And it's called the Model "E"

Not to me. The internal PSU in my PS3 slim went faulty. It only powers on when it wants to. And when I say that, I mean the LED only lights up every few months or years. Literally. And can only be used at those times.

So it is (in my opinion) better to have something external that can be replaced easily than having to open it it up with a special screwdriver in the case of the 360. The PS3 slim though thankfully can be opened up with a normal Philips head screwdriver. But my slim PS3 has even more problems: A disc drive that got damaged when it shut itself when playing playing GT6 due to that faulty internal PSU. And the wireless communications don't work.

Both of my PS3's, slim and fat, are bad in their own ways. My fat model now shuts itself off shortly after powering on. The fat PS3's may have been more reliable than the early fat 360's at first, but MS fixed the issues with 360 in the long run and late model fat 360's will outlast even late model fat PS3's. Not to mention the horrible CECH-L01 model if I am correct.

Considering the features and how reliable they are, I'd rather go with XBOX 360 S (Trinity motherboard) or original XBOX 360 (Jasper or Tonasket motherboard). E models are the worst models to have. The only pros for them is that they are newest model you can buy and, if you're not fan of the XBOX 360 S touch sensitive button, E model comes with a regular button.

Here's a short comparison chart between the different XBOX 360 models:

Additionally, ConsoleMods has a pretty good written buying guide which you can find here.

I've heard the E models are alot quieter so otherwise I don't see why you'd choose another model over E. The Slims are not too loud though unlike the PS3 Slim which sounded like a Jet engine.

I have a PS3 Slim just like that and it needs a new thermal paste added to it, I guess.

Airshot has recently developed FreeBoot to work with BadUpdate. FreeBoot used to be a rebooter tool to reboot JTAG'd consoles to newer/later kernels.

That's pretty cool, now online play is possible with this exploit (Stealth Server), Too bad its not free though, only a 7 day trial.

There are free stealth servers that don't require payment, such as Proto. The video shows Cipher which is a paid service.

You need to use Xbox Live for this? Or these are private servers? FreeMyXe blocks XBL so that's why.

Ok yes now FreeMyXe blocks Live, but did not originally. Please elaborate how any of these others are wrong or lies? Can you play online with others using Xlink or Scripts, while using this exploit? I never said anything about IsotoGod format games not working.

You can run any 360 retail,Arcade, and Indie titles which has been demonstrated over and over again. You can use Aurora and FSD as your dashboard. You can run any scripts in Aurora. You should be able to use Xlink and systems like it. It's not that different from RGH really.

Nice I'm glad it's getting weekly updates. It's made a huge difference in getting more games and homebrew to run.
Don't think we'll need to rely on XexTool anymore for patching homebrew, well, only in some instances that you do. If this gets to 100% compatibility w/o needing patches in a future update or so, then I'll make sure to cite this on ConsoleMods.

The newest firmware is 2.0.17559 so a person could update it via the 360 internet software update feature for convenience?
You can do that via internet or by copying the update to a USB. If you're going to be using BadUpdate every so often, always make sure to keep the console offline in-case of bans.

Do you still need to patch the latest FreeMyXe or not anymore? I patched it anyways as a precaution but this would be great for the Homebrew Store and Nova. Has anyone tested Xlink or other alternatives yet? I'm glad that it looks like you can run a stealth server on this exploit. Could lead to using the 6717 dashboard on 17559 dashboard mod maybe but not betting on it.

Seems M$ has pretty much killed the 360 so it's not like they care what happens to it anymore.
Make sure to disable background downloads as well. Just in case Microsoft tries to sneak in an update. But always disconnect before turning off your Xbox.

You do not need to patch FreeMyXe before copying it to the BadUpdatePayload directory, as this was explained many times before that it was designed for Bad Update in mind without the need for a patch.
