Thanks to Thug4L1f3 for pointing this one out.
As many of you know banned 360s can not go on live and neither can JTAG ones. System link still works but it needed to have ping times below 30ms (maybe just maybe doable on the internet for a friend on the same network and loop/section for most of us and out of the question for anything further than that).
Fortunately a hack/patch just got released for freeboot (and seemingly only freeboot right now, whether it will be ported to XBR or not is a different matter and given that XBR has pretty much stalled I would not hold my breath) to remove the ping limit for the client- the host of the game can be a stock 360 apparently though.
http://www.xbins.org/nfo.php?file=xboxnfo1854.nfo* and http://www.xboxhacker.org/index.php?topic=15393.0 have more although it is just the standard xlink (and probably any other VPN) model once all is said and done.
*it references the dash launch program's NFO/readme which is here: http://www.xbins.org/nfo.php?file=xboxnfo1849.nfo
Around here there are several regulars with JTAG 360s so depending upon how this goes we might go more in depth.
http://www.co-optimus.com/system.php?id=1&...&released=Y has a list of released games with system link and many of those have already been tested over at xboxhacker.
