I like the look of this one: The W14 Piranha

Looks like it may have an analog stick built in?

What I really want is a REAL lightgun. Not something you put the Wiimote in. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'd like to see some games that require you to truly aim ... instead of moving a reticle around the screen.

The Wiimote is perfectly capable of that. You don't need the reticle.

Well, if you noticed ... if you aim at a certain part of your television with the wiimote, it doesn't really aim there. Like, if you look down the wiimote as if you're looking down the sights of a gun. And if you move around looking down the wiimote, the reticle isn't gonna follow. It's not a true lightgun that detects where the gun is pointing on the screen. Unless they find a way to calibrate it accurately.

You are correct but as you mention all this needs is calibration. That wouldn't be hard you would just need to save some settings to the games save file. These settings would be from a manual calibration, you could have a reticle that you could adjust in steps to line up with the aim from 'down the sight' of the wiimote.
Normal lightguns won't work with plasma or LCD TV's either and seeing as I got a nice big plasma not so long ago I'd want it to work on that.

This is what makes me think the below comment might be true.

Why does this reek of gimmick to me? Come on Nintendo!

Can't believe I missed this one.

A lot of those shots look nice (if alarmingly realistic) but my main gripe with such things is lack of weight: I normally find myself getting the COG and adding some lead/tungsten in there.

I thought the gun would have some extra functional buttons on it, instead of just being a neat Wiimote holder. Oh well. Yet another Wii accessory I have to buy...

Just some spare tungsten you have laying about..?
Seriously though is it easy to get tungsten?
I'd ask you to send me some but I guess the shipping will be based on weight

With the batteries in the wiimote I don't think that's going to be a problem. If I just rest the wiimote in my hand in a gun position link I think it might even be a little to heavy if you're going to be playing a long session.

I just finished a metallurgy degree and there was a whole bunch of tungsten rod left over from various projects, I also know a few people in powder metallurgy shops if am so inclined.
As for getting it in the real world it is not a dangerous element or even that rare of one, it does not cast easily, oxidise that nicely or machine well so it is not used so often.

Failing that tungsten carbide clocks in around 16 grams/cm3 and you can pick it up fairly readily.

@123kid maybe but I still like it approaching real world weight.

I've been dying for something like this since Raving Rabbits. Lethal Enforcers PLEASE!!! LOL actually I'd play just about any arcade shooter...Revolution X, House of the Dead...Dammit they need to release this asap! Anyone know where I can get the Piranha?

Oh bad news though....Raving Rabbids requires the nun chuck...so games would actually have to be made for this gun attachment on less the gun has a nunchuck emulator...dunno I just woke up...half asleep still and craving coffee.

The gun thingy has the expansion port, you can connect the Nunchuck. But that would make one weird gun, I must say.

But since you only need to wave the Nunchuck to reload, you can tape it to the handle, and just jiggle the gun to reload.

But that way you'd be reloading all the time, and you lose points for that

Time Crisis, Crisis Zone, House of the Deads, the potential is there. Let's hope the companies use it. When they do, I'll pick them all up.

EDIT: Ooo, Ghost Squad was fun in the arcade.

I wonder why they decided to use the nunchuck rather than putting an analog joystick on the back of the gun. I much prefer 1-handed gaming when possible!
