Well,

I have a Wii with WiiFree, and a few games patched to remove the 001 error(Mario Galaxy/SSBB/Mario Kart).

So, if i do the update, those games won't work anymore?

EXACTLY. Because for you to remove the ERROR #001, you patched a file in the second partition of the iso (boot.dol i believe) tha you had to RE-SIGN again. The encryption key used is a fake - the trucha sign bug -

EDIT: I see they answered you. Well at least I explained how it works

According to Wiibrew, bushing has announced a workaround.

BUT.....

I've scoured his site, hackmii, and I have failed to find anything about a workaround.

So, what's going on here. Has a workaround really been announced?

FFS you are a little greedy bastard aren't you?

The workaround asn't been released.

I think that he announced it for wiibrwe not for everyone. Also "THE WORKAROUND HAVEN'T BEEN ANNOUNCED PUBLICLY" or something like it.

edit: beaten

This is the last thing he said

Update 4: It’s interesting to look at the timestamps here. The System Menu has a build marker of “systemmenu.rvl.0803060727? – yes, that’s March 6, 2008, 07:27. This update to the menu only accomplished one thing, as far as I can tell — the blocking of the TP hack. (I guess we can count the IOS30 patch together with it.) They spent 3 months testing it — this isn’t actually that surprising, when you consider the potential financial damage if they roll an update out that bricks Wiis.

Congrats to tmbinc and tehpola for finding a combination of two bugs in the code that Nintendo added that — when combined — allow us to fool their check into ignoring the TP hack. More info will be forthcoming — I still wouldn’t rush to update my system, anyway.

This still leaves the issue of how to deal with IOS30; there are several different ways to deal with this — some of which have already been released by people — and we’ll need to take some time to decide on the best one to use and test it thoroughly. There’s no urgency here, no need to rush into something.

ok i'm sorry. the only reason i expected to find stuff at hackmii was the fact that the word "workaround" on the wiibrew homepage is a link to hackmii, thus implying that further details are available on that site.

i suppose it's rather misleading really. perhaps it's just there for the future, when bushing updates his site.

Fot those, who want to use their Trucha-signed games with the 3.3 firmware, i've found an info (but i haven't tested yet!

) :

- Switch on your Wii without any disk inside

- Run Homebrew Channel 0.8

- Run Gecko Region Free v1.5 homebrew

- At this point, you can insert your game.

Enjoy!....

yes it was on the site
but now i get mr error 403 forbidden

Well until a proven workaround is found for Trucha, I won't be updating. I have like 10 custom guitar hero discs that I love too much to let die. I also have a lot of edited discs to remove "Error 001."

there has been one announced... aparently loading geckko load from the HBC then putting the disk in to load it will work

but the problem that i see comming about is if it invokes ios30 or 31 they have been patched to stop the trucha bug working.......

if u open the TMD for GH3 in a tmd editor check what version of ios it runs on......

but there is no real point in updating, i mean who gives a fuck about mii's certainly not mii

The gecko region free method should work. The homebrew channel uses IOS21 on beta8 and IOS35 on beta7, IIRC, so there should be no issues.

I'm curious, why is everyone asking if they'll be safe when they update? Just don't update. It'll be quite awhile before any games ship with or require this update.

Is adding Miis to your parade really that tempting? :-)

i like the idea of not updating

got all the games i want :]

besides, gonna have a 360 and ps3 to play soon, why would i need more nintendo stuff?
