I don't think it's the firmware that's the problem - any firmware can be downgraded - just that new PSPs that ship with 4.01 firmware are likely to have the TA-088v3 motherboard, which cannot be hacked.

which firmware was on your PSP at the time you bought it? If it's lower than 4.01 than you should be able to use a pandora battery

Exactly, The firmware does not matter, It can be downgraded with Pandora, Its the motherboard that cannot be flashed, The only way to check that is, Im assuming to open the PSP, But since you bought it and it came with 4.01 pre-installed, Your probably out of luck, That most likely means you have one of the new motherboards.

You pay attention to the cod bar on the psp box...
If you find letters like: NP,NPA,A,B,C,D,E,F,G you can still hack your PSP...
Every letter over G are the new unhackble psp...

hi we got a new psp today, a rose pink from korea.
it reads the letter G on the box, so i think it's flashable. but psp grader and other methods (using despertar v3, v4, etc.) didn't work.
any advice on how to flash it?

This is the main reason I don;t have a PSP!
Too late for any cool mods! xD
Flashing worked fine without a problem until just recently, and you'll still be able to get flashable PSPs in stores for quite a while, and over ebay for like all eternity...I don't see how that is a reason

Aren't the 'G' code PSPs the ones that come with the TA-088v3 motherboard?

Not 100% sure on this, but I think only 'F' and above PSPs are hackable...

Mine says G on the box. I've had CFW on there for a while.

well, now i'm not so sure about the G thing.
i just checked the battery and the memory stick on another psp, and they're working fine.
but the new psp just doesn't boot.
maybe some of them are not flashable, after all.
