He's probably on 4.2 and ran a system update and it told him thats there is an update available so he thinks its 4.3 when its really just wanting to stub his ios files that usb loaders use.

Or maybe not.

Proof would be nice

LOL. If you have WiiConnect24 on you would have already seen Ninty's message.

isn't it nice to own a game to do the hack with though. legitimately owning a great game like SSBB or Lego Indiana Jones?

I was going to argue that nothing makes buying a lego game worthwhile. Then I saw it's only £12 new so it might be worth it if you can find it second hand.

Except playing baseball with lightsabers.

Indiana Pwns works for Japanese Wiis AFAIK, but as you say, I don't think there is a working exploit for Korean Wiis. And while I can see megazig's point, in that people will at least have to buy one game this way, but it can be irritating for those of us who do buy games and yet don't want/can't afford to get an exploitable game. But still, its Lego Indiana Jones is quite cheap these days....
It doesn't work for Japan. I made the same mistake earlier. Lego Indiana Jones was never released there. So in summary here are the working exploits on virgin 4.3 Wiis:

US: Indiana Pwns, Smash Stack
PAL: Indiana Pwns
JAP: none
KOR: none

Somebody with the equipment needs to work out how to port the Smash Stack exploit to the Japanese and PAL versions. Probably, it just needs a bit more dummy code. Who released the original Smash Stack exploit anyway?

i have been reading about the fixes for 4.3

im trying to make sure i got a few things correct

i read at the top of a few guides for 4.3 fix that the wii had to already been modded before 4.3 for the fixes to work

so these fixes do work on a "virgin" never modded before 4.3 wii' ?

not sure if this has been covered, but was the internet channel updated in 4.3? if so has flash compatibility been improved?

No. The Internet Channel would be updated via the Wii Shop Channel, not a system update, and no such update was released.

I'm pretty sure IOS254 was re-stubbed, 4.2 Update included STUB IOS 254 v260, and the 4.3 update included STUB IOS 254 v65280

after some1 confirms this, the 1st post should be updated with this whenever the OP has time

@Megazig, i see what u r saying, I personally own Twilight Princess and Smash Bros Brawl, but what about Korean Wii's that can't use the SmashStack or Indiana Pwns Hacks (I'm not sure if Japanese wii's are in the same boat). I'm not saying we need another bannerbomb (although it would be awesome and I hope it happens), but I think the wii community needs an exploit that will work on all Wii's... including Korean's (and Japanese if applicable)
This is confirmed, but it does not conflict with re-installation. Hackmii installer first uninstalls ios254, then it installs bootmii ios.

I just want to make sure I read you correctly - so you read at the top of the guides that the Wii had to [have] already been modded for the 4.3 fix to work, and that lead you to believe that the fix does work on a virgin Wii?

Yes, you quoted senior member stating that an exploit still works on 4.3 (even virgin) - but then you stated (outside of the quotes) that you thought that meant that the fix also works with a virgin Wii - immediately after stating that you have read statements to the contrary. I based my question on your statement, not the quote above it. And you did, in fact, make a mistake - because the fix will not work on a virgin Wii. I haven't read all of your posts, but of the ones I have read, you are now 2 for 2 in misunderstanding what you have read.

OK, I think I understand what you meant now clay.r.08. As a warning, the word 'these' can lead to great ambiguity and should be avoided.

Seeing as I now realised that when you said "so these fixes do work on a "virgin" never modded before 4.3 wii' ?" you were referring to the methods I mentioned in the post you quoted rather than the fixes you had just mentioned in the previous paragraph, the answer is "yes". Everybody else assumed the alternative.

Now to clarify on my answer of yes...

The Indiana Pwns and Smash Stack exploits work on virgin 4.3 Wiis, but you are limited in what you can do with them. You can use homebrew apps, but you can't install IOSes. That means no USB Loaders and so on.

Can ios16 be enabled with trusha bug or have it cos it's original you should be able to install it? It's an old ios i got an old version of wad manager that works with that somewhere.

There is no known method to downgrade IOSes on 4.3. The previous exploit used by the Trucha Bug Restorer has been fixed. The only way to install a patched IOS that is known of at this time will be cboot2 once the new BootMii and HBC are out.

And it gets better:

Actually, I clearly stated that I did NOT see every post you have ever made... reread the part about 2 for 2 - as in I have only read 2 of your posts. This makes 3 for 3 (Just to clarify: This means I have now read 3 of your posts)

QUOTE(clay.r.08 @ Jun 27 2010, 09:50 PM) i am wrong a lot

Your first correct statement since this stupid conversations started. And I only asked if I misunderstood or you did, because I wanted to make sure you and anyone else reading the thread didn't screw up their system by taking these posts to mean the exact opposite of what they were saying, which is what you seem to be adept at doing. I was trying to help, and then I just couldn't resist when you proceeded to prove my point by accusing me of saying exactly the opposite of what I said, multiple times

I guess this is just a pet peeve of mine - people who can't comprehend simple, straight forward English (non-native speakers excepted, of course)
