My cheats for NSMB are suddenly gone. I have the newest cheat code build, and all other games work. Anyone else having the same troubles?

Any idea how to fix them? I have gone through all the settings and can't understand where they went.

Is it possible that my (U) rom won't accept the cheats, and that it must be an (E) rom?

    Try these things:
    1. Download the cheat-database again.
    2. Press X in the cheat menu so that it rebuilds the cheats.
    3. Make sure your game has the correct rom number. Aka clean rom since hacked roms may get their number changed.

US/EUR/JAP makes no difference since there should be cheats for all those versions.

How do you check and change the rom number? What software?

I tried everything else, so it must be the incorrect number.

    R4CCE.

Change the Game ID to the one of your ROM (... and select ROM)

I have the R4cce software but can't open any roms. Is this for changing the cheats only? I need to be able to look at the rom first to see the game ID.

Or, don't cheat. Play the game legit and actually enjoy beating it.

    Away from you.
You need to open your USRCHEAT.DAT file in it, and find the NSMB cheats section, change the game ID to the one of your ROM (... and select the ROM)

How do I know what the game ID is? What software do I use to find that?

    Away from you.
    Warning: Spoilers inside!

    Once again.

You open your USRCHEAT.DAT file in R4CCE.

You find NSMB in the list of games.

There will be a field called "GAME ID" separated into two parts.

There will be a button that says [dot][dot][dot].

Click on that and open your NSMB ROM.

It will change your Game ID so that it will work.

Are you 100% sure you pressed X in the cheat menu so that it rebuilds the cheats?
