Wii, i also said that.

and I dont think ill be paying to get one of those... i prefer the one i have already, thanks.

The new contact part seems a little dangerous if you want it to work... I prefer having little plastic strips.

and the micro sd without spring wouldnt make a difference to me.. as long as it works then its all I need. The thing that holds it reminds me of the adapter to make it like a normal SD one, which IMO isnt very holding.

All in all, i'd rather keep my version.

Oh, and it just looks like they've done this to save money. No spring, bits of plastic on the sides off, no plastic on the golden teeth.

There function is to prevent peoples fingers touching the contats, on which oils reside. These oils can tarnish the metal conectors and in the long run, prevent the r4 from running properly.

well i'm about to buy a new R4 and was wondering if its more of a benefit to get the new one without spring and no separation of pins, or the old one with spring and separation of pins in the long run?

Id say the old one, But im not entirely sure. Id ask threadmaker for the best answer

haha! fuck you all.

I told you all that there is no chance of it being side loaded (the Micro SD Card slot)

haha noobs i was right.

^ what's with this guy and all the swearing. it's been obvious from numerous posts for a while that it is not side loaded. also it would be a design flaw to make it side loaded anyway. it's easier to just take the microsd out than to have to take the cart out and pull the microsd then stick it all back together. less moving parts this way.

well it looks like they cheapened the cart a bit, but it still works.. I would say this product should only cost about $25 but I bet it costs more heh. I like my spring loaded ones, no problems here.

Man I totally said they wouldn't make R4s red with spinning RIMZZ and wings I was right fuckers!

Yeah, sorry about the photo. The case is all black and not "blue and black" since that was a messup from the way I took the camera (played with settings between each shot).

Build quality question... umm.. I never really thought about the build quality on my old R4. It just felt like a nice solid cart but on this version... the second I played about with it in my fingers, I felt there was something odd with it... mainly because I COULD DO THIS.

Okay, this is just pure nitpicking. No-one would go about deliberately snapping a small piece of plastic at the bottom. This is my thought. In order to get better contacts with the connectors, they had to remove the small ridges of plastic between each connector but in doing so, the bottom has nothing to connect so it just flexes about without a care.

OCD Harsky signing out.

To do: Play games and see how it handles me removing and reinserting the SD card for new roms.

I might get a new R4 myself when my current one dies. 2 out of 3 Older R4s had their springs broke in just under 2 uses on me.

Lolz.. i thought i recieved the wrong thing when i recieved the new R4.... and yea.. teh bottom seems so fragile now, i thought i was close in breaking it trycin to take it out of the plastic case

I've got a feeling that this cheesed-out case design is the last we may hear from the R4 team.

Case in point:

http://www.r4ds.com/

http://www.r4ds.net/

The only site still alive is http://www.r4ds.cn/

Until they show some actual signs of life besides a crappy re-design of the case, I'm considering them dead. As long as the card still plays the latest releases, I'll keep using it, but this may mark the end of the line for R4DS.

Let's hope I'm wrong.
