Hacking New PS3 user, where to start?

Hello,

I just bought a PS3 Fat 80go on OFW 4.60 and i don't know where to start.
I checked the minimum installable firmware version with MinVerChk and it's 2.45.
Do i need to update? On the last firmware (so 4.84) or is it better to update on 4.82 (and how)?
I want to play PS3/PS2 games and use emulators like retroarch for example.

Upgrade to HFW 4.84, then hack it. Finally put on CFW 4.84 or your choice.

ps3xploit only supports HFW 4.84 now so there’s no need to use 4.82.
