If I buy a New 3DS at retail in mid- to late-July, will it come with an exploitable firmware? I'm not interested in pirating 3DS ROMs, so don't need 9.2, but I do want to use and create 3ds mode homebrew.

There us no real answer to that, as it's like asking how long is a piece of string. But to answer it anyway, it will most likely be a 10.xx version the most, which you can downgrade, as I don't think 11.0 fw ship at the moment, unless it's a new off the press from factory. You will need Freakyforms deluxe to boot homebrew or a Sky3DS with that rom for Fw 11.0 though. Be willing to pay Scalpy prices for a retail version, if you are not lucky finding a copy on the cheap.

11.0 has homebrew exploits (and arm11 kernel exploit) but 11.0 broke downgrading. If you are interested in developing 3DS homebrew that makes no difference unless you wanna implement system downgrading functions or anything that requires kernel access.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also, the console may come with a lower firmware version. Like 10.7 or below.

pretty sure the ARM11 exploit was made unusable, and anyway software downgrading on 11.0 will not happen without an ARM9 exploit so.... lel

all new 2016 models will come on 10.3 or lower. mine came with 9.9
wrong. Consoles have been confirmed with 10.5 (the EUR Fire Emblem one, for example).

Not really. With this you can implement CIA installation (it will work just with signed (legit) CIAs)
I know what an ARM11 exploit allows...

I'm sure it was made too hard to work properly, and honestly, it's not worth the effort.

PlaiCDN, Shameless, etc. are there in this case. It download signed titles directly from Nintendo servers, so...
Without CFW, it's pointless anyway. Very few games are universally signed.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
