Just hit my 1TB's limit, looking to update in a paycheck or 2. I prefer internal because I've had issues with the Wii U where I get screwed out of a game because the USB cable goes bad and I've got a 2-year-old kid. He's very likely to just take the external if it catches his interest.

So, preferably keeping under $100 USD (though not a hard limit, my wife might not like the excess spending though), what is my best option for internal? I know some 4TB or higher might not fit the enclosure, but the info I have on that is 2 years old and we all know the tech industry.

there's the nyko data bank for at least the phat ps4. it will allow a larger hdd to fit in the enclosure which = less money to spend.

Good point, I did forget to mention I am on the original model PS4. Probably makes a difference there.

Edit: A bit clunky, so not ideal. But not a deal breaker. If I go that route I just may have to rethink my set up space-wise.

Last edited by Reaga,
Just get an external HDD for App2usb, Nyko bank suck, draw up 3 Amp of current, will just heat up the PS4 a lot faster.

yeah, it looks horrible. I got a 2TB hdd in mine. larger hdds might be better as external to keep the cost down.

Well external is a deal-breaker for me. I really don't trust the connection, and again little kid who won't get "Don't touch this" for another year or more.

Also what firmware you on? 5.05?
Latest, haven't held back on updates because I play a few fighting games online and last I checked CFW was so far behind as to leave me stuck for quite awhile.

Idk if that's changed or changing any time soon.

Okay it doesn't affect you, for people like me and @godreborn we have unit that is on 5.05 for PS4 Hen, Firmware 5.07 doesn't have a recovery file. Long story short it doesn't affect you.

I think the ps4 can accommodate 8TBs externally (possibly internally too). I recently bought a 10TBs hdd which cost $276. I'm downloading ps4 games to it via jdownloader right now. shh... :P

How's your Recovery Mode? And I'm sure it can do 8TB internally if it can fit, but are there any 8TBs that can fit the enclosure?

Also, what's the highest double-digit? That'll be a priority. I know I can probably just get a 2TB and be good for now but there's also the thought of "Let's prevent this even longer".

recovery mode? I'm not downloading the pkgs to use on my 10TB. I'm just using it for storage. all of those games together are about 1TB. they're the only games I care about currently.

Sorry, I meant Rest Mode. Wrong R-word.

There was an issue in the past where larger HDDs lost that feature.

He doesn't have access to Hen , dont confuse him even more about Fake Packages.

I have a Toshiba Canvio 3TB external. Bought one because it was on sale last year.
I really don't trust external however. Sorry. I know it has utility, but in my living situation it's likely to come disconnected mid-game.
