I just hope they forgo the trick system. It won't be nearly as fun to do trick on 3DS as it was on the Wii. Also, I'd like the drifting to be the same way it is in Mario Kart ds. If both of those things happen, I will be very happy.

What would really make me happy is if have you can't log onto Nintendo WIFI for 15 minutes if you turn you're 3DS off during a race! That would make me happy!

Please... Dear Nintendo... Don't fix what ain't broken. Look what you've done to Mario...

He's been a painter, a city cleaner, a musician, a doctor, an astronaut... Innovation? Fine. Overdoing it? Not so great.

Fix snaking. Or rather, get rid of it.

I hope they bring back what they did on mario kart double dash, you can go to like Double mode or something and you can select 2 people like on double dash, and then i hope they bring the Special Items that each character has on double dash, tat was awesome.

@HelloWorld12321

That would be awesome O:

They should have online preferences for each player (like wanting snaking), and the system matches those with similar preferences for races. But, in times where it takes too long to find a group with similar preferences, it chooses the next best one, and warns the player about what to expect, for which the player accepts or declines.

Hell YES. (well, to be fair, they could've just "fixed" it rather than removing it completely)
And I think they should also bring back the special character-exclusive items from Double-Dash (as long as triple-shells aren't character-exclusive items, then I'll be happy).
Or, well, they could just put a Double Dash option into the game.

@RNorthex: Have you even read the article? It says that the dev team has been exploring ways to make the powerful items more balanced.

If I play a mario kart game I'll play it with a friend of mine, so all I really want is a multiplayer Grand Prix mode (a real gp not the choose 4 levels in muliplayer mode they had on the wii) and the all cup tour back.

I... WANT... TRICKS!!!
Since the 3DS has a built-in motion card...
All you do is shake to do some random movement, like a handstand or flip

Mmkay while tricks would be cool, it'd also be hazardous to the 3DS. vigourous hand movements + Wobbly screen = Screen slowly breaking over time.

Please keep it at 12 racers instead of downgrading back to 8. Maybe even jump up to 16 for crazier online multiplayer?

Oh, they're keeping that blue super shell? Bye bye fun.
I thought that item destroyed mario kart DS completely... though I never had as fun with a mario kart as I had with 64! That had great gameplay, and great levels... now everything feels so over the top and meh :/
Oh well, I have to try it before I judge it of course, but that blue shell

I'm kind of hoping they give an option to change the items that appear, much like in Smash Bros. games.

AMEN to that!
Never thought of it, but now that you say it, it's the obviously best solution! Some do like that blue shell, others hate it, just like the quote in the OP says. Being able to choose... of course!

(Now, Imagine a tournament with only blue shells! That'd be some fun in a warioware / drunk party fashion)

I'm hoping the online is AT LEAST up to days standards. Nintendo is so behind on online...
Mario Kart Wii was actually not that bad to be honest with you. Sure, it lacked voice chat and some detailed matchmaking options, but it was pretty standard for a 2008 title. Nintendo's put some heavier emphasis on online connectivity for the 3DS (and supposedly the next console too), so I'd imagine they make some good improvements to the online experience.

Just don't shake it like a mad man. I'll think it be cool if they add that in or use motion sensors to drive.

+ 1 to some other ideas too.

Can't wait for this, it like one of my fav games.
