Playing through Metroid Other M with the classic controller hack and I can’t for my life get the grapple beam to work. Which button combination is it?

You have to change to first person view and then press y. Later on when you want to jump from one hook to another you can just press b for jump and y for grapple

It’s not working. It shoots out the beam but it never connects. It’s like it’s cancelling the shot as soon as it goes out.

Did you get the ability already? Samus get it later on, not when you first see a grapple beam

I’m at that very point in the game when I get permission to use the grapple beam. When you are supposed to reach the higher platform to rescue one of the crew members from that big freaking monster.

Ah yes I remember the scene. Have you tried to press A while in first person view? I know that there is no combination for the grapple beam. Just Y or A. There is just the combo for the 3rd person missiles. Are you playing it on wii via usbloader gx or have you patched the iso?

I’m playing it through USB Loader GX.
Out of curiosity did you play through the game with the classic controller hack?

Yes. I've played it on the wii u gamepad only. And I didn't encounter any bugs. Do you hear the explosion when you fire the missiles in 3rd person?

Hmm I could try to film it and show it. Let me get back to you on this.
On another note. How often is the grapple beam being used? If it’s only used a very few times I could turn off the classic controller hack and use the normal controller and get past these areas when the beam is being used and toggle it back

It's not that often. You can reach some upgrades with it here and there and there are some bosses where you need it. But for the most part it's definitely not needed. Are you playing the redux mod or the vanilla game with the cc hack?

The vanilla version. I didn’t know there was a redux version. What is that? Some kind of hacked version?

Yes it's an improved version of the game. You can find it here on gbatemp. It has visual and story upgrades. Let's just say Samus is not talking the whole time and saying the obvious. Plus it adds extra music in fight moments. Pretty neat

I found out the issue. I had toggled the quick charge cheat. The game does not like it when using the grapple beam 😄

Is there any Classic Controller hack for the Wii (New Play Control) version of Mario Power Tennis?

Yeah i know the original GC version is way better in controls but the Wii version featured native widescreen presentation/support and it had even more bloopers and cut scenes in the credits...

EDIT: Also all the cutscenes were reworked to be in widescreen 16:9 instead of 4:3. Not to mention it has official translations, something that the original GC version didn't had.

Have been trying the controller hacks with Metroid: Other M. I find the nunchuk works best. But sometimes I have to unplug it, mainly for combat, as the d-pad works better during these times.

I have a question for Vague Rant. Would it be possible to toggle first person mode rather than it relying entirely on where the remote is pointed? If it were possible, I think A could be utilised as fire, B as moving viewpoint and down on the d-pad for anything else, since it’s in easy reach of A.

Also, if there a way of reverting to stock controls without having to unplug the nunchuk that would be great.

I did also like CC for this game but I didn’t like (1) having to use it for pointing, (2) that the controls for pointing were non inverted on the Y axis.

I was thinking B could toggle FPS and moving viewpoint as that’s the default setup, i.e. hold B and you switch but also can pan the camera.

Hey, first of all, thank you for your work!
Can someone help me to edit the Metroid Other M code swapping B/A buttons function on Classic Controller?

Hello. I discovered this gold solution of gecko hacks for wii via ocarina recently and I loved it. Unfortunately, I have a problem in my hands and shake the wiimote or nunchuk is dificult to me. Recently I played Mario Galaxy on switch via Super Mario 3d All Stars and I loved that game. So I tried the patch for classic controller on wii to play Mario Galaxy 2, but the game uses so much the motion controls, and do it with the right analog stick isn't so good. So I was thinking of a way to play using the wii motion controller with a simple modification. If anyone can do it I will be so grateful.

The idea is to create a gecko code that change the following buttons: ↓ > C (when I press ↓, it will reset camera), C > Z (when I press C, Mario will squat), Z > CONTROL SHAKE (when I press Z, Mario will spin).

I noticed that when in first person, it is possible to get out using the A button too. So there will be no prejudice in using the ↓ for reseting the camera.
