Waninkoko has already advised that this wont work directly with the present loaders and he had given advice on how to change them to work with the new system.

Someone should come up with a loader for the new cIOS fairly soon - id be thinking in the next day anyway given the speed they are working on stuff at the moment.

The Cios_fix.wad seemed to have sorted a lot of games for most people if combined with the backuploader that was released after it - ive seen most games work well on that.

Thanks For the info Djtaz. Your always very informative.

Waninkoko is reading this thread...

What does this do?

Waninkoko, is this another "dangerous and not useful" application?
Yes, because all of waninkokos app's have been useless.
Right, sure.
Waninkoko's ios' were used for dumping wii iso's and stuff, among other things.

I found the Downgrader and region changer to be of very good use. I dont see how u can say that "ALL" his apps were useless

I've had people buy SaveMiis because they bricked their Wiis with Waninkoko's downgrader or region changer.

I didn't make it up when I said that those were dangerous.

cIOS is definitely not dangerous. It might qualify for "useless", though (unless you're a pirate).

Either way, this "magic" new cIOS isn't going to improve DVD read speeds. He's also still extremely inefficient in the way he does things. And some parts are totally weird / useless / a stupid way of doing it. I'm also not making it up when I say that Waninkoko isn't a particularly good coder.

ok, i correct my statement that I havnt seen one brick to date(in an forums or anything) cIOS isnt exactly useless, it lets you install wads(i know can be used for piracy but there many homebrew that has been turned into channels as people dont know how to make .elfs to install stuff like you did(unless you released a document on how to do that). this wasnt ment to improve DVD read speeds aswell. people need to know that that isnt going to happen while useing DVDx.

You're officially an idiot. It's been said time and time and time again that the read speeds have NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH DVDX. It's a HARDWARE LIMITATION.

QUOTE(soonepoon @ Oct 17 2008, 12:32 PM) Without him there would just be the homebrew channel and nothing more.
Are you suggesting that Waninkoko created or helped create most or even many Wii Homebrew applications?

Though I guess without Waninkoko nothing would have existed if "the world" for you means "piracy".

There is a lot of praise to be shared by many. (You might be against piracy per say but hombrew opened the door you know)

And has it been proved to a 100% certainty that it is a hardware limitation?

you said that you could get a fully working backup loader with 6x read speeds menu loading no patching n all the other stuff, if its a hardware limitation how can you magicly do it?

I never said anything about 6x. I said I could speed it up because half of the slowness is due to Waninkoko's shitty code. I could get it faster than 6x using SDHD cards instead of DVDs, because I know how to talk to the SD system.

It's been proven with 100% certainty that it's a firmware limitation on the drive, and that a hardware limitation prevents patching the firmware. So unless you can find a hole in the firmware, yes, practically speaking, it's a hardware limitation.

Geez marcan you are a bitch!
Useless for everyone? Where is this "magic" you are quoting?
Isn't a particularly good coder compared to who... you!? Are you some sort of 'coding judge' now?
marcan is still extremely childish in the way he says things. And some things he says are totally weird / useless / a stupid way of saying it.

Kudos for the great work on hacking the Wii marcan, but do you have to be so rude when speaking about others work?
You don't.

No it won't. People will be able to pirate games easier, that's all.

As marcan has said COUNTLESS times, he's not interested in doing that.

how can you say his code is shitty, when he got most of his stuff in the 1st place from you guys?

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
    run h2testw on it

when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too

yes looks like an faulty sd

@Psionic Roshambo i may try that with my dead sd cards

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    It's always worth a shot

@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
