The new Castlevania project which is being developed by Kojima Productions has released a couple of new details in the last week. David Cox, producer on the game, has tweeted a few juicy details.

Firstly, he mentions that the "PS3 is the lead platform but the game is identical on both formats." This is good news for PS3 owners as it means that we are likely to get an equal or slightly better version of the game. So far, every game that has had the PS3 as a lead platform has looked almost identical on both consoles, the same cannot be said when the 360 has been the lead platform.

He also replied to the following question, "Could we rotate the camera to see the landscape for example, or is the camera always fixed with no control over it?"

David Cox replied, "Camera is fixed. You cannot control it." This means that we are likely to see a very cinematic game, similar to God of War, as it suggests that the game will be able to go into cutscenes seamlessly.

A PS3 site admitting that a PS3 isn't as powerful as a 360?

Any hint of a Wii release? All the Castlevania games have been on the Nintendo systems so far and it wouldn't feel like a Castlevania game without a Wii release.

Once the playstation came out the Castlevania series moved to it and then last generation games were on both PS2 and Xbox at least 1 was. Still can't wait to play this one once it is out, looks really good.

Yeah, I thought Castlevania was a nintendo exclusive. Doesn't really seem like a logical choice for the ps3 to be the lead platform for a game that was previously for nintendo systems only, while giving the wii gamers a crappy arcade fighter. (Disclaimer: crappy refers to the quality of the game here, not to the quality of the genre.)

Are you guys joking? Please tell me you were.

The most popular Castlevania of all time is SOTN, which was on Playstation 1. Heck, the game came out on the Saturn, XBLA, PSN and PSP ports. Its never been released for a nintendo system. Then you have the 2 3d Castlevanias on xbox/ps2. The rest of them came out for the DS, and none of them are anywhere close to as popular as SOTN which has never been released on a nintendo system.

This game looks like a great reboot, looking forward to it.

Then they say this.

The SDF cracks me up. Golly, a Playstation blog claiming a multiconsole port will be superior on PS3? lol

Are you serious? You do realize that when PS3 ports of multiplat games are inferior, its not because of hardware limitations, but rather the lack of time the developers spend on the said PS3 version. Bayonetta is a perfect example, so the author was simply being hopeful of the PS3 not getting shafted......AGAIN.

SPH73: Sigh....You do realize that in multiplat games, some are SLIGHTLY better on the Xbox 360, while others are SLIGHTLY better on the PS3 (note the key word SLIGHTLY). Most of the time, its the 360 that is getting the upper hand, simply because its the lead platform, which thus subject it to more development time (and experience on the same platform). When the PS3 version is being used as the lead platform, it tends to either be EXACTLY the same as the Xbox version (Devil May Cry 4), or again, SLIGHTLY better (Burnout Paradise).

Seriously, the amount of PS3/Sony hate in this board is just pathetic and saddening, and would have been more reasonable had any of the argument actually made any sense. >_>

You forgot the GBA games and N64 games. So, there are 8 games for Nintendo Plataforms.
And the DS/GBA games are popular as SOTN was. You just have to browse some Castlevanias fansites and see for yourself.

..............

still waiting for a 3D Castlevania that can stand up to the 2D Castleroids.......

it'll turn out much better on ps3 than even the pending HD Wii. some games you just shouldn't have to waggle.
