I know the limit is 2TB, but what would happen if I insert this new 4TB with firmware on USB?

the ps4 can read up to 8TBs internally. it's just hdds are only high enough up to 2TBs. ssds are smaller.

btw, height is 9.5mm for both ps3 and 4. you can get around it on at least the ps3 by not using the cage, but I'd advise against that in case the hdd gets dislodged.

it can be smaller than that though. I know they make 7mm drives, possibly smaller even.
